In short, once an analog signal enters the VS workstation's first A/D converter, the next conversion doesn't happen until the sound hits the speaker; there's no unnecessary conversion or multiple re-conversions to detract from the overall sound quality. And there's no need to deal with noisy analog cables, patch bays, or routing headaches.
