I jes' bitcht like this:
I attempted to make a $400 purchase at the Orland Park, IL store on 4-15-07 at approximately 2:00 PM and presented two checks on two different accounts, neither of which your telecheck system would approve. This took 20+ minutes of *my* time.
I then *paid $200 cash* for half the merchandise and asked that the remaining items be held a couple of days, but the clerk "Colin" refused to do so.
I left, and then telephoned and spoke with a female supervisor (whom I note was aware of the problem within the store but did not approach after she did when the first check did not clear.) On the telephone, She insisted on explaining that the telecheck system was to blame - not my problem, and not even my concern when I called - and she refused to allow me to advise what my complaint (the failure to hold the merchandise I spent 45 minutes choosing) actually was; she was quite rude in talking over me and then hung up on me when I objected.
When I called back, "Colin" put me on hold.
When you treat people like thieves, when you fail in basic courtesy, when you refuse to even hold merchandise following your inflexibility in adjusting for your check service problems, when you exhibit the incompetence in customer relations that your staff did this date (only the female sales clerk was at all helpful), you rightfully lose customers.
You have lost this one, who last year spent almost $3K (mostly cash) in your store.

Customer service is gone in America today. Sprint is a company of theives...don't get me started.
Not to say that all companies screw you. There are some good ones left but this is becoming the norm.
It's frustrating isn't it?

That's why I like living in small cities. If they did that they would fold up, but in the big cities they can always get more suckers to come in. In the Small cities their reputation is everything, is the big cities they just want to screw everyone one time and retire at 45.
There are many things that happened in yer story that I am sure we can all relate to. The break down in the technology and the failure to rectify the problem, no flexibility in their system of business.
What ever happened to loyalty to the company? Employees of businesses used to do their best to satisfy and keep customers. Now days they could give a crap if you come back or not.

Companies used to offer pensions and benefits...nowadays?
Who screwed who?
I know it makes a great Limbaugh talking point...those damned greedy union employees... but we're reaping what we sow...enjoy your self check-out lanes...

Good point about less benifits from the companies. I can't put all the fault on unions. The reasons are very complex and would require a lot of study and thought to get a handle on it.
Greed is at the top of my list. Stockholders, Corperate officers, middle management, the unions and workers are all guilty of it.
