I don't post very often but thought everyone should be aware of how good the DVD and Book are from Plancton. I purchased a VS 2000 and VS 2480 last year and have been using it and aquiring tools to help in the recording process. This has cost more than I should have spent ( pacifica pre, presonus ADL600 pre, Dynuadio BM15A's, Lavry DA10, 3-vs8f3's, all the plugins, room treatment, etc). I have the book VS recorder power and the VS2480 DVD and have to say the new book and DVD are much more advanced and helpful. I was a little bit nervous ordering from a company in Germany but certainly glad I did.
The DVD is 3 hours and 20 minutes of very helpful demonstrations of how to best use the tools on the VS. One thing I loved was the demonstrations of how to use all of the 3rd party plugins. Everyone who has a VS2480,VS2400, or VS2000 should own these.

I ask because you mentioned how to use the 3rd party plugins, so I reckoned it may have some stuff about reverb, etc.

The DVD references the book and cites page numbers for more detailed information. The DVD goes into great depth about mixing and using tools in the VS with examples. I know it is pricey but I would have paid double for the information now that I have seen it. I believe anyone would gain knowledge from these tools regardless of how long you have been using the VS machines.

Just a quick update on the DVD. This has really opened up a greater appreciation for just how powerful the 2480 really is. I really believe now with the knowledge gained I can record some great stuff. The chapter on the plugins was of great help since I have all of them

I think we need a DVD by Karl! Karl, what so you say, can we expect a new DVD on the 2480 to come out soon?

Does this DVD expand on the lessons given within Karl's book and the DVD Owners Manual. I have both and find them very useful but would like a video which gives real life examples, rather than covering the theory.

It took about 10 days to get the book and DVD.
Adigga, The DVD and Book in my opinion would be very beneficial in addition to Karl's book and the DVD owners manual. I have them as well and in my opinion you will be very glad you got these tools. I am hoping someone else gets these and shares their opinion so it won't just be mine. The DVD and book were two of the best purchases I have made in regard to recording with the VS 2480 and VS 2000.

70's, I'm considering purchasing these as the examples given use the mouse and monitor. The DVD owners manual uses the screen display on the 2480 but I use the mouse and would benefit from it greatly. Also, I'm just beginning to build an appreciation of the possibilities and usefullness of effects processing and want a visual guide to learn how to use them properly.
Once ConnorP receives his maybe he'll post his opinion.

I was! I was just trying to make the point that you shouldn't wait. This is a great tool to use and there are many that I wish I had gotten before they were discontinued.
