I have a project I recorded and saved with effects using Aux Sends. Today I fired up the VS after a few weeks of not being used and I can't hear any effects on the tracks, although they show in the channel edit screens. Any ideas of what could make them work? Might I have a dead VS8F-2 card?

Are you using loop or insert?

I loop them. I opened a different project and the effects were working but they just aren’t working on this project. Maybe I have some corrupt data. Maybe I’ll back up the project and recover it into a different project, and see if that helps.
I’m not sure which orange button you are referring to, Blair. Can you post a screen shot?

After backing up the project, you might just want to do a Drive Check. If there's corrupted data (even internal markers, etc.) Drive Check is the only method I've seen that recovers from corrupt data on a VS. Of course, the backed up project might also contain the corrupted data - whatever it is, if any. But at least you stand a good chance of having a workaround, should you lose any actual audio data in the bull run known as Drive Check.
If you lose audio data after a drive check, but you have a backup copy, you could reload the backup and re-record through bouncing any of the tracks with missing audio in the cleaned up project and the export the bounced tracks from the backup copy into the clean copy.... No need to re-record the actual tracks that way.
Hopefully you wouldn't lose any audio in the first place. I've had both good and not so good experiences with Drive Check - maybe half and half in the 4-6 times I've had to run it on my 1680.

Hi, sorry can't upload a pic, not sure how to do that on this site. it's the "aux" button, just thought it might have been overlooked or something. :-)

The Aux buttons in the channel edit screens are lit up orange.

I’d be afraid to do a drive check having several projects on the HDD. If backing up and bringing it into a new project doesn’t do the trick, I will back up all projects and reformat the drive.

can't do much better drive check than to reformat the drive, I guess.
