So, back in ‘99 I purchased a VS1680. I was really happy with it. I’m not sure what happened but I leaned towards DAWS more in the following years. ACID MUSIC, CUBASE and more recently REAPER. I have been giifted with processors a plenty to aid my production. But, here i am in hind sight longing for the spontaneity that I had tracking on that 1680. I have gotten so lost in production possibilities since, that I have completely forgotten about the song. And so, with that in mind, I have bought a VS2480 in what appears to be very good condition for what I would consider a very reasonable price. The audio quality may not quite be on par with my PC’’s audio interfaces, but I’m hopeful to enjoy the end result regardless. Happy tracking!

Welcome. I am a returned prodigal also...
I always found the 2480 to be easy for recording and live sound mixing. I initially got lost in the weeds using the cut and paste stuff to assemble complex mixes. Eventually figured it out. Hopefully the "Roland" method is consistent across different VS machines.
Enjoy!

Yeah, what appeals to me most vs a DAW is that if I come up with something I like on the guitar or on the keys, It's really intuitive to just lay it down on the VS. You can stay in the zone so to speak. I've found that when using DAW's that I loose the magic that I wanted to track.

Welcome back you guys.

Loved my old 1680! So much so that I subsequently picked up another and linked them.

My first Roland was the 880, which I found to be a bear to master. And frankly never did.

After the 1680s, I moved up to the 2000, which for me is the VS that best suits my recording needs. It’s also a fabulous machine, and is still going strong after 17 years!
