DGP DGP Space Cadet Registered: 07/09/19 Posts: 13	I have some killer recorded unfinished 2 inch tape recorded drums that I dumped into rolan way back from a recording session and now I want to hit play on roland and record them as is into my new presonus studiolive 32S board that way they are no in a new board. I already spent countless hours eq the drums on the rolan years ago with a great engineer so my goal is to get them out of my 2480 but not on wave files. This way I use xlr outs on board and have the 8 individual 8 drum racks , kick, snare, snare, tom, tom, tom high hat, overhead, on the prosonus 8 individual tracks. Can I do THIS ? thanks for your help

DGP DGP Space Cadet Registered: 07/09/19 Posts: 13	I should have worded it like this. I need to take tracks 1-8 and send them out 1-8 at same time by pushing play button and use 8 xlr cables one for each output on back and then they are in new mixer recorder 1-8 inoput of presonus 32S recorder

March March Planeteer Registered: 04/26/99 Posts: 2069 Loc: IA	The digital (ADAT SPDIF) works only on 2 channels at the time from the Roland. If you don't have an R-BUS cable, put the eight tracks 1-8 on the Roland . Use the 8 AUX out (1/4 inch) in the back from 1-8. Assign DIR out to each track by clicking on the respective squares(first one DIR 1, second track DIR 2, etc.) They will send each track as an AUX into the PreSonus and record them from there. uptildawn uptildawn Planeteer Registered: 12/15/01 Posts: 9073 Loc: on land	Just for clarification for future readers - It's been a common identification mistake, but the square port on the VS which carries the 2-channel digital spdif is actually called a Toslink port. ADAT, which carries 8 channels and uses the same port and cable, is not compatible with 2-ch spdif and as gyorph points out, is not used by the VS recorders. _________________________ uptildawn
