Hi,

I'm an old-time user, but I have not been to the site in many years. And of course, that's because I have not used my 880EX in probably at least 15 years. However, I recently revived it, and am getting stuck on a few things -- it's been slow going.

Yesterday, I kinda hit a wall.

After finally getting through the bounce (six tracks to two connected tracks), I tried to then record additional material on a virtual track. I tried to ensure I was not still assigned to the two connected tracks, but the instrument I was attempting to record was only coming out of one channel, would not display as an input (so I could not get a level reading on it), and when attempting to record, though I could hear the instrument, it did not record.

I changed the fader mode to orange, and discover the setting were all loopy -- fader set to one site, level messed up, etc., and adjusted them, but it still wouldn't record.

I guess right now, I'd just like to know if there's a way, post-bounce, to reset each track in terms of assignments, etc. Or just a proper walkthrough of how to prepare a track for recording after it's been used to bounce. I've scoured the Internet, Youtube, and have been going through the OM top to bottom, but I'm not getting a clear picture yet.

Thank you

All right, nix the first request. I figured it out. I was thinking that when I cleared the assignments, the track would revert back to being assigned to itself in edit mode, but no. Evidently, I needed to go back and re-assign it, etc.

I do have another question, however:

I'm adjusting the trim level in edit mode (orange/yellow fader light), and it's showing a nice, high input level when recording. However, when I do the playback, the level is substantially lower. Why is that?

Thank you

Hi,

I've also been using my VS-880EX recently. \:\)

I just read your posts.

A few things that you should be aware of, that used to "perplex" me briefly:

1 - Sometimes an input or track will have an effect applied pre or post fade, and you will
hear it in the master "mix", even though the faders are down.

2 - Are you aware that, in play display mode, that you can easily cycle between the four
display modes of pre, post, playlist and fader level display? I use this very frequently.

This may assist you in diagnosing why the levels are not identical. As I recall, they should be.

Hey John, thanks for the reply. Sorry, I'm just now responding. Kinda stopped coming in here after I realized most folks seemed to be sticking with just the main forum.

But I appreciate the reply.
