Re: A couple of visitors...

We get a lot of hummingbirds. I'm going to put a feeder by the living room window. I've seen a lot of videos of people feeding them by hand. That would be cool. Must take some real patience.

Re: A couple of visitors...

We have sat outside and have had hummers fly right up to us (within a foot or less). The trick (or so we have discovered is to sit as still as possible. They don't seem to mind noise (so talking is possible), but the slightest bit of movement seems to scare them away. It also helps if you are wearing something bright red.

Re: A couple of visitors...

A couple years ago I was out back having a puff of herb, and hummingbird stopped about a foot in front of my face and just looked at me for 10-15 seconds before flitting away. I was thrilled. I read later that this could be an aggressive behavior intended to intimidate. It sure didn't seem like it, though I can't say I know how to read hummingbirds' facial expressions. Maybe he was scowling at me.

Re: A couple of visitors...

Can't watch the video now The connection sucks in the studio which is in a separate building from the house and is about 150 feet (47 meters) and 5 walls from the router. But I will later.

I assume you've seen what Rose and I call the "Snoopy and the Red Baron chases". They're fabulous.

And that might indeed have be aggressive behavior you experienced. Getting stared down as it were. Or it might have been spliffage paranoia.

Baltimore Orioles were not named for the city, but Lord Baltimore, btw.

Nice shots!

Heh. Reminds me of a mostly unrelated naughty story from ~25 years ago. My girlfriend and I had just finished a rousing round of afternoon loving. I had a few puffs, and then we walked down to the nearby Popeye's for some finger-lickin' good fried chicken. Just as I was about to order from the girl at the counter, my GF whispered in my ear, "She can smell your face!" I couldn't speak. I had to walk away from the counter.

Obviously your not a baseball fan. the Baltimore Orioles only like playing in the field while the other team bats.
