…which of course I don't. But I was reading a review in Guitar Player Magazine (aka Heroin User Mag) about a Slick SL56. The review basically said, "this is a crazy value for what appears to be a cheap guitar". I mean, come on, a P90 in the neck and a Tele at the wraparound brass bridge? Semi hollow body? It was too wacky to just pass by. So five minutes later, I'm pushing the "buy now" button on their website. And so that smelly doesn't need to ask, their return policy is 60 days. https://www.guitarfetish.com/Slick-SL56-Offset-Body-Semi-Hollow-Aged-Indigo-Ash-Finish-_p_44806.html |

Nice Fenson. Intonation looks tricky but you probably don't care about that. |
hmmm. I do not like the purple. Some of the other colors where ok. You will have to give the full report. |
Cute. Let us know how the return process goes. If you're looking for cheap fun, there are some really cool things coming out of China these days, with roasted maple necks and nice stainless steel frets. Like this one: How about this badboy for $257.21? Give us a tone report! Want something a little different, like this Guild import? Want a semi-hollow Tele with P-90s, dirt cheap and with a return policy? Got you covered at $175. Or how about with an offset body with a wrap around bridge that is adjustable...for 187? Perhaps a PRS clone with P-90s and whammy bar? Hey, you don't have a "Red Special", do you? You need one...at $266.00! Do you still have that resonator? How about this one for $222? A 12 string Ric clone maybe? Buy them all! We want Tone Reports! I would, but I FINALLY beat my GAS a couple of years ago. Seriously Moosie...good luck with the new Slick guitar!... ....sorry if I kicked up your GAS! |

Ah crap… I typed "Vela" but I meant "Mira". Probably because I've been looking at the Velas because I love my Mira so much. And yes definitely I still have the Mira. |

Give the seller a break this time, return it using your drone. BTW the intonation remark was a joke. It think stop bridge do look tricky to adjust. |

Purple Rain!...noice...let us know how you end up liking it. Slick is a side brand of Guitar Fetish, and they've been building guitars for a long time now. I've never played a Slick guitar though and am curious as to how they actually play and sound. |

People that buy guitars for the color are idiots. Wait, I bought two blue PRS Artist models -m |

This guy has the same model Guild I have. But his has binding around the body. Mine doesnt. His pickups look (and sound) cheesy. Those arent stock. I have a Duncan Distortion and a Bill Lawrence L500XL. He's got a Kahler too. |
Yeah, he sounds brutal and plays even more brutally. I know you play WAY better, and I hope your guitar doesn't sound like a buzz saw through glass shards, like his does. |

Drummer maybe. Here's a picture I found of me holding my guild. |

Speaking of shark guitars, I guess they make a replica of EVH's now. If you have a spare $1,900, you can have one of your very own. https://www.evhgear.com/gear/shape/shark/striped-series-shark/5107922505 Insanely low action That bridge looks like the one that was on my old Gibson Marauder . |
EVH said that his guitar sounded terrible after he cut the body like that. Gibson used those bridges on a bunch of guitars of that era, like the LS-6 and Marauder, as you know. But the purists, even back then, did like them...and thought they looked odd/too wide. |
No wonder they didn't show him playing it that much. He did cut out a lot of wood. He probably couldve gotten a better sound with some EQ and effects. But he didn't like to use that many back then, I guess. |
Yeah, I don't know. I just remember reading what he said about that guitar. I'll try to find it when I get a chance. Eh, I looked a bit and references to what he said are out there but I didn't see a bid or direct interview. Anyway, it's pretty well know what he said. I always like those Destroyers, and even more, the Iceman, though I never owned either. |
Iceman is one guitar Ive wanted for a while when I was younger, but never got one. Now, I don't think it's practical to have one. I can get whatever sounds I want out of what I have already. Eye candy really isnt worth the price IMO now. |
If you have one of those old Gretsch's --trade it for a Black Les Paul |
I knew someone who had one of these. Only thing that came to mind when I first saw it was "Generic". Neck-Through-Body-Bolt-on |

Well, the Slick SL56 just shipped today. Supposed to be here on the 21st. |
Well, I got it today. So far, I really like the neck carve, but I'm underwhelmed with other things. For instance, the volume control doesn't turn the guitar all the way off. So I'll play with it a bit and see what transpires. |

omg 16 thousand thats sick I was in Nashville last summer and into Carters guitar I went. so many acoustic guitars I played were ten thousand and up it was ridiculous. my wife's nephew was over in my studio here and said I hate the fact you have so many cheap guitars that are so nice. it made me laugh. I just bought my daughter the epiphone Inspired by Gibson J45 at a thousand Canadian and it is a lovely guitar. such a character. madguitarrst nice dobro....who makes that? |

bridge pickup looks high...or is it me? |

It's a Rogue dobro. Not expensive by any means, but for my skill level and actual usage, it's just right. |

Yep, you nailed it, Adam. |
They probably crank out a lot of guitars to let something like that slip by. |
Finally had a chance to give it a good workout this afternoon. I got the action to where it plays really nice, and I definitely enjoy the carve of the neck. The clean amp sounds are really nice, too. The neck sounds warm and wooly, the middle position has a terrific spanky Tele sound, and the bridge is really bright, but livable. ~However~ light crunchy amp sounds are not pleasing at all (to me). The neck goes to mud, the middle is just wincey (makes me wince), and the bridge is awful. So… sorry, smelly, I know this is going to shock you… This one is going back |
Oh, and yes I know that I could swap out pickups, but why in the world would I want to put more expense and work into an inexpensive guitar when I already have 27 others that I love? |
If you can achieve the same sounds from any of your other guitars, I don't see any point in keeping it either. Unless you like it's aesthetics. I heard demos on youtube, and it doesnt sound bad. https://youtu.be/DTeTWFmelxc?t=1344 |
He's kinda getting the same sound I was with the middle and bridge settings. Not a fan here |
Wow Mooseboy you really look different with a Santa hat on. Almost like a completely different person. |
No that's somebody else. And it looks like he has a real problem, collecting all those guitars! |
I like that tone. The dude has great vibrato. |
Wow, lesson learned! Paying for shipping back was $70. |
About 1/5th the price of the guitar. I think I wouldve just kept it. |
You have to say something is defective, then you don't pay return shipping. AND, there was something defective: the volume pot. Oh well.. . |
I bought my Kramer Vanguard brand new from musicyo.com right before Kramer was bought out by Gibson. Anyway, I complained to them about some finish flaws and sent them photos. They were minor, but still flaws nonetheless. They said I could send it back to them for an exchange at their expense or they could just reimburse me 10% of what I paid. I took the 10% and kept the guitar. |
