So, I’ve been playing around with Sonar X1 LE for a couple of months now and really want to learn it inside out before investing in X2 Producer. I’ve watched all the online tutorials via Cake TV and a bunch on YouTube as well. However, these tutorials jump right in without really explaining the concepts behind some of the options Sonar offers, and coming straight off a Roland 1880 platform that’s not a good thing.

So, what are envelopes and what are clips?

Also, I believe layers are basically just like virtual tracks, but I haven’t quite figured out how to comp them yet. In other words, if I have 3 layers that I want to splice (cut and paste) into one perfect layer how to I go about doing that? That’s got me stumped.
