Guy was a great guitar player and even greater person. His wife sent me word that Guy died of cancer on February 5th.

Rest in peace Guy.

Very sad news. Maybe the "new" Planet should have a permanent "In Memoriam" section to honor those who have preceded us in leaving the 'Planet for the wide open spaces beyond.

One the good ones for sure. Great man and great player. I'm going to name my new Gretsch "Boguy" in his honour. (Guy was Gretsch for those that didn't know and played a wonderful Chet Atkins style.)

This was the message in English:

"The Beaudry family regrets to announce the death of Guy Beaudry 1941 - 2012 died February 5, 2012 at the age of 70, he was the son of the late Gerard and the late Yvonne Beaudry St-Laurent. He is survived by his wife Claudette Brazeau and his brother Peter (Irene), his children: Simon (Angelique) and Ian (Amy), his grandchildren: Philip, Louis and Emile, and several nephews, nieces and friends ( e) s. The Beaudry family invites relatives and friend (s) to share memories of Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 15 pm in the basement of the Maison Mathieu Froment-Savoie, 171 rue Nicolet, Gatineau. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Maison Mathieu Froment-Savoie and the CLSC who, through their dedication and expertise, could appease these difficult times. In memory of Guy, your expressions of sympathy may result in a donation to the Maison Mathieu Froment-Savoie. For information: The Gardens of Remembrance (819) 778-1515"

Jammer, is it possible to download those clips to my iPod as music vids?

Delso, while the video is playing, hover your cursor over the top of it and there will be a pop-up icon in the upper right corner that reads, "Download This Video".

Popped back in here earlier today and completely missed this very sad news. But, I guess we all knew it was coming. I was fine until I played that damn second tune Jammer posted, then I started ballin' like a little girl. My 14 year old son came in and asked me what was wrong, and I asked him to please just give me a hug and I'd tell him as soon as the song was over.

I have no idea why that happened to me. I really didn't know Guy that well. But, that smooth finger-style picking and song choice coupled with the circumstances most likely had a lot to do with it.

RIP Monsieur Beaudry.
