after Yellowstone and Togwotee Pass it's pretty flat until he hits Colorado - everyone knows how flat that is - i believe he has to get over Hoosier Pass - @ 11,500 feet - it's pretty steep but actually one of the easier Colorado Continental Divide passes because the approach he is taking is relatively short (steep part is @ five miles or so) - it's a long downhill glide to Alma and Fairplay from the top.

Yellowstone is one of my all time favorites - when you get to the small town of DuBois here's a tip - they pronounce it Do Boys - very proud of not pronouncing it like a Frenchie.

Have a great time - i hope you make it to Colorado before 8/25 - i leave for Seattle that day and would be disappointed if I wasn't able to at least meet you, not to mention offering you a plave to stay, food and spirits.

the part of wyoming you just rode through is pretty desolate - did you see any pronghorn antelope? whenever we drive through there we see hundreds.

If you do, just turn around and take another run.
To be sure you don't miss him, open your car door as you go by.

Rolf, you're an amazing person to tackle such a tremendously arduous journey, especially solo. The route you've chosen is unyielding, and will throw everything at you that it can, so the LAST thing you need is to be your own worst enemy.

Although success comes with a high price, you have to stop letting yourself run out of water. You've obviously been distance biking long enough to know what happens when that supply is exhausted, and so are you. If all the conditions are correct when this happens, and your blood pressure drops like a rock. . .

You're solo out there, so everytime I read about you running out of water, I think about ME when I biked for distance (in my early 20's); but always in a group. Climbing those hills dry and hearing your heart pumping in your ears is one thing; but climbing those hills dry and NOT hearing your heart pumping in your ears is a problem.

PLEASE LOAD UP ON YOUR WATER BETWEEN STOPS.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, Tom. he'll see as many states on this trip as I probably have living here my whole life...and when I DID see some of those states, I rarely got off the interstate.

In Saratoga hot spring tonight...its the best town in Wyoming so far. The last few days have been tough riding as the winds here are so strong. If ever anyone goes to wyoming stay away from placed like Jefferson city and muddy gap. This place is like the forbidden zone on planet of the apes lol!
