Thanks guys...and I have a place I. The UK to stay for anyone here who gets over the pond :))
This place just gets better...I got up..loaded up bike ready to.do battle with the Ho4 lane highway near the airport...then I get an offer to take me and the.bike to the bike shop.to pack it..take if to the airport and a room for tonight so I don't have to sleep at the airport! Then another guy throws free icecream to me while I'm on the phone because I rode the transam!
Gotta love Yorktown...in fact all of the America I have been priviledged to have seen!

Have a good trip, my son. Wear your cycling shorts on the plane and impress the hostesses - weather's OK over here, for a change.

Thanks chaps....so I'm sitting here at Philly intl in my lycra...sat in McDonalds as it was hard to get a seat elsewhere....then this Spanish girl about 30 eyes to die for and a diploma in paella pulls up a chair and starts talking to me...lives in Madrid...been over in California visiting family...got along great...I'm putting it down to extreme English charm and thighs of steel...lol...nothing to do with having the only spare seat in the airport next to me of course lol.
This neon world is somewhat alien to me now...had a great view of Yorktown as I flew over it....
Met an American couple flying to Lisbon to cycle round Portugal...very nice people...and a guy on a baseball cap who keeps telling me that he once flew across Wyoming in a light aircraft....again and again.and again...
Amazing who you meet at airports....:)

Seriously, RGR, that all needs editing into one narrative with selected photos - you have a ton of great material.

yes i agree...i just have to get my head more settled...since being back...it's like a blurr of so many wonderful things aplaces and people. I want to get the blog printed up some how..printer busted...oh and i'd like to copy this thread a swell as it was a fundamental part of the journey for me.
I also have the route maps, each marked with the places i staid so that gives me the days rides in order...i think thebest way to do this is to go on another trip ...take my time and write it as i travel...hmm...checks bank account overdraft and sighs...
btw...does anybody have asuggestion why my photos from thetrip are so small when i take them into thelaptop? The strange thing is that some of them are big others are tiny...i set the resolution to a good size...not the smallest but the medium setting...in the camera...when i upload to th eblog they are a nice size..also on facebook...but on my laptop they are small thumbnails???
The phone is an htc desire droid.
I may call the book...

"I may call the book...

Well, it's a guaranteed best-seller with that title, but I should write it first.
Great idea to include this thread - we had some moments of real drama here when your cellphone wasn't working - and your virtual support network of ageing rockers, whom you hadn't met in the flesh must feature in it.
First job is getting it all in chrono order and making sure your pictures are all linked to the right entry. I should leave some of the typos in - brings out the idea of a tired bloke in bike gloves tapping at a ridiculous touchscreen (I have an HTC!) - but not too many. I'm a good proof-reader, so if you want to email chunks, I'm happy to take a look.
Well done, again. Amazing achievement - not least the speed you progressed from theorising about it here, to getting Shinto into the Pacific.

I LOVE Adrian's idea about keeping the typo's in! So maybe the title becomes "24 Pounds and 1000 Typo's in 87 Days" subtitled "One Man's Search for Adventure, Weight Loss, and a Decent Touchscreen."
