I have a vs840 with cleared memory, and my only zipdisk broke when i should do a recoverdisk. Please could anyone just dump a in vs-840 newly formatted 100zipdisk. It would be a great help. Example in Linux with DD utility.

dd if=/dev/sdb of=/zipdump.img bs=1M

Or a known systemdisk known to work for recover in compelling version of update. \:\)

Did anyone get back to you on this?

I can do this for you in the next day or so, probably not tonight as I have band rehearsals pretty much as soon as I get home, but I could do it tomorrow morning...

I currently have a VS-840 with the 1.05 firmware, and use linux both at home and at work, so dd'ing an image is not going to be a problem

In case anyone does want a plain zip disk image, there are now two compressed DDs of an initialised 100Mb Zip disk, formatted on a VS-820 running firmware 1.05

See http://tunedinzonedout.co.uk/VS-840/

one is gzipped, the other was compressed using zip. Both about 112Kb, but obviously will expand to approx 100Mb

Assuming your output disk is /dev/sdb then with the gz file you should be able to do this

zcat vs840_v105.img.gz | sudo dd of=/dev/sdb

which will expand and write to the output in one go

There's probably something similar using zip, but

unzip vs840_v105.zip

will give you a 100Mb file - vs840_v105.img - which you can then do

sudo dd if=vs840_v105.img of=/dev/sdb

Remember, this will wipe everything on /dev/sdb so you need to know for certain that this is your SDcard, or CF flash card, and adjust accordingly if it isn't.
