You know, Geo and I don’t often agree on things, but this is one of those rare exceptions. It takes a special kind of narcissism to come into a memoriam thread, like this one, in an attempt to make it all about yourself and your little self-important “axes to grind.” This is in such poor taste I don’t even know where to begin. The man wasn’t even in the ground before some of you started in on him, without him being here to defend himself, no less. The bottom line is if you don’t have anything positive to contribute then you should stay out of this thread altogether. Of course, you won’t because you two have neither the poise nor the good sense to do so.
Again, RIP Tom, and my sincerest condolences to the family.

Tom, you were a person that many times engaged others in conversations of political and religious viewpoints, that deeply expressed your opinions as you believed in them. When others pushed back with insulting remarks; you followed suit. You weren't a Saint, but neither are we.
The point I'm trying to make is that we really shouldn't be attempting to point fingers at you, or each other, for what we say in threads. After all, we have a 1st Amendment that allows us to voice ourselves, right?
HOWEVER, perhaps we ALSO should exercise a bit of common sense and restraint when those threads happen to be an 'In Memoriam' type, and stick to the intent of it.
I'm fairly confident that others here wouldn't want their nice 'In Memoriam' thread defiled with a bunch of adolescent-minded petty bullshit, either.

Sad news to me today.
Tom seemed a principled man with strong convictions. From some of his posts it was evident that he dearly loved his family. He for certain will be missed here and at his home.
BEAMS to his friends and family.
I kinda think he'd like that people were mixing it up a bit in his memorial thread. Considering his "just having fun" attitude. I really think he'd have a good laugh about it all.

Tom was a great guy, I'm personally disappointed that his passing happened so quickly for him, and for us who considered him a friend. Tom always had a fair and balanced outlook on life in general, at least for most all the issues we ever spoke about, he was one of the best friends on VS-Planet.

i recall a couple of stories he told that seemed outrageous: like speaking to Jesus on an airliner, fighting demons in a closet.
i used to make fun of him about those stories.
but then a little voice told me: "after what you've seen you should not make fun of other people about this stuff".
but it's easy to forget about stuff that should be probably left forgotten.
i have no way of knowing if he was deranged or had some firsthand experience with the stuff...

We all are doing good. My dad (Tom) now has 17 grandkids and my mom remarried which was inevitable as she has been married since she was 17. My dad certainly did prepare everyone for his death, because of his burial plan we ended up burying him 24 hours after he passed away. Of course a few of my brothers brought a guitar and sang a few songs at the cemetary, and everyone joined in for I'll fly away.
I made a profile here many years back to p.m. my dad to chat with him as I knew he was always hanging out here anyways. Interesting reading some of the comments on this thread. My dad always gave his blunt honest opinion which it appears some misconstrued as rude and that's ok.
I found an old mp3 my dad emailed me that was recorded from the 70s maybe a really crappy cassette recorder originally, and it sounds really distorted. Is there by chance any way to improve it that anyone knows of by chance?

Can you maybe post the mp3 itself? Distortion is a tough one...it's not something that can be undone...but, if you'll post the file--maybe with different ears/approach/tools, it might be that someone can make it a little "improved".
