This isn't about hardware, but there is no forum for software programs in general..... so here's where I've posted the question. If it belongs somewhere else, please let me know and I'll re-post.

Over the past few years I've used various software two-track editor type programs to accomplish simple (in my view, at least) playback needs of mine, while practicing songs. I haven't been completely satisfied with any of them, although a couple come close to doing everything I want.
My list of needs isn't large, but is evidently beyond the scope of many free, or really basic editors: 1- tempo change without pitch 2- pitch change without tempo 3- easy loop marking (and playing) 4- markers that save with file for quick reference of loop positions 5- easy keyboard commands for marking and adjusting loop regions (without mouse) 6- easy keyboard commands to adjust both vertical and horizontal zoom 7- control over choice of scrolling and non-scrolling wave display
__________________________
Programs I've tried: 1- Wavosaur - okay in some respects 2- Audacity - okay in other respects 3- Audition (a long time ago)- don't remember and now the program appears to have changed direction and is not free 4- SoundForge - the best of the bunch, but also not free
Multi-track programs do almost all of these things I need out of the box, but they tend to be expensive (except Reaper) and the interfaces are too cluttered.... take up too much space with non-essential things, such as extra and unused tracks, excessive toolbars, etc.
Reaper might be the best of the bunch from what I can tell, but it too is very cluttered. ________________________
So, my question is, does anyone have some suggestions for programs I might look into, based on my needs? Of course, if I've missed some important elements of the ones I've listed, I'm all ears (and eyes) to know.
Thanks all.

I love Amazing Slow Downer by Roni Soft. Great practice tool! Doesn't offer any wav display, but everything else. It's not free though, around $45, maybe 30, can't remember, but worth every penny!

Yes, I've used that also. It is nice, but doesn't offer the other features I need to use.
I used to also use a free WinAmp plug-in called Pacemaker, which served me well for a few years, when I was transcribing on the PC. I could keep WinAmp and Sibelius (notation program) open at the same time, toggling back and forth between the two, while working out parts to songs and writing them down at the same time. That worked a lot better than pen and paper.
