I'm talking about working bands. Some bands want the BEST sonics that they can get for their album. They're going for broke, because they don't want to stay "indie". Pop has a lot of talent and this is a GREAT deal. You just don't get it.

I'm very familiar with your music. I've listened to about half of every song that you've ever posted.

100 bucks for a quality mix is stupid cheap for anyone, indie or not. The key to getting a good product from an engineer is to listen to some of his stuff. Everyone has a "style" and a type of music that they are good at. If they dont usually mix your type of music then use someone who does. The chances are you will be a lot happier in the end and the money will be VERY well spent. Sorry to hear you are giving it up Pop. Its the reality of todays music scene. The cheap DAW has almost completely killed the studio star.

I think you're overboard on the empathy here. He doesn't seem so down to me, he's voluntarily packing it in, if he made money mixing songs he was lucky to begin with. and I'd add that guys like him and Havlicek demean indies often, they usually put down that I even dare to do my songs, are far more dismissive to me than I've ever been to them.

Luckily for me I don't respect them at all or it may bother me, but I find it kind of pathetic that every time somebody says something about Popmann who is often a pompous ass in his own right, some guy like you goes out on a limb to defend him. Do you really not see all the snide shit he's posted here over the years or do you idol-worship him or something and you're blind to it ?
