ok I've decided out of sheer utter boredom I'm going to rerelease one at a time all my greatest songs on soundcloud, a site I've mostly ignored over the years. Seriously, when I see my freakin songs lined up all in a row, there ain't no doubt in my goddamned mind why I called myself the last rock hope. And anybody who thought otherwise, you're all a bunch of dopes!

ok, here's the first installment of a historical reenactment of my catalogue of songs. I thought I'd start with the one people seem to remembah the most.

This is probably my most requested song. It was controversial because at the same time as Walmart is sort of known as an evil entity in our corporate culture, they also have the cheapest shit.

well they're pretty clear if you listen.

Wrote the music in the 90s, lyrics in 04 or 05.

I did listen. All the way through. Probably my notorious "tin ears," but I could not make out all the lyrics all the way through.

What I could make out sounded like an interesting subject/topic, and I hoped the posted lyrics would shed light on the meaning of the song.

You don't have your lyrics in some sort of Word Doc or other form that can be copy/pasted?

Well Gonzo, you started it on that thread by characterizing me as a curmudgeon cause I like some of the rock legends, I had no idea you'd be so sensitive when I jabbed you back about Van Halen.

Funny, I found the lyrics less distinct this time round and had to check the link - maybe I'm going deaf. I still like them and the song, as a whole.

This is one of my signature tunes. Brings me right back to exactly where I was when I wrote and recorded it in 2001. I'll go with my friend Doug's description - "THIS however, is the quintessential FT song. It sums up the whole thing, the total experience of the Internet musician. It's a work of genius, and I would not bs you about it. Lest you stupid fucking putrid bullocks think I'm kidding, I'm not. I'm deadly serious. If you can't see what FT has done here, it's you who are terminally dimwitted. This is it. The essential musician's internet experience."

well you deserve it.

Us geniuses have got to look out for ourselves!

I rarely type the word myself but I have to admit that it's nice when others do.

I'm quite proud at how often that word has been used on my material over the years, and how it has made me feel and respond to becoming 'even more genius'..,

I simply thought that you deserved the 'pay forward' this year.... Frankly! I'm getting sick of it! LOL!

The future of rock is noT old rock. The music scene is headed for the net though. A combination of music and visual arts. Wont be any lame ass soundcloud either unless they start videos too.

video has co-opted music for years now. I tend to think evolution will involve understanding the separation between the 2.

and Rock is rock.

You know, it is entirely possible that Father Time represents the future of rock. I just listened to Virtual Star again, and after a long time between listenings, there are some very insightful phrasings that seem to be coming home to roost. Neil Young notwithstanding.

I enjoyed it Al (Virtual Star). I really enjoyed the music a lot. I don't mean that as a knock on the lyrics or vocal performance...but the music really resonated wtih me.Very cool imo. Nice job.

Thanks, man!

a side note, this techno dude named Kurtz once made a midi version of the song, which was used for a Father Time avatar on this game another guy created - that was pretty cool.

This was a track originally influenced by The Who but became a sort of transcendent rock/rave dance track when produced by my friend Will Read. Was a pretty huge hit in the indie circles where it was released.

Relating to the Planet, this is one of the 2 songs they were demanding I keep on Planet Radio when I wanted to put some new songs on there, caused me to remove all my songs. \:D
