Hey, gang. Been a while...

I've been active with my music in the sense of teaching songs to the band, and that's GOOD, but for the past couple years my songwriting's been on the shelf. I'm shifting my routines around, and I'm REALLY hoping that I'll be able to be more systematic with my songwriting - more like I was doing four years ago or thereabouts.

I've been through a few VS-840EX boxes over the years - ebaying them cheap when the switches start dying. The one I've got now is starting to have a balky right-cursor button, so I may have to move on: maybe either another EX? Or something else - but I really, really don't want to be wasting my time with a new learning curve. I want to be writing songs, not learning a machine!

Has anyone had any luck fixing individual button-switches, as opposed to replacing the whole darn board?

As it happens, weirdly enough, some of the button issues seem to be lessening with use. That, or I'm getting used to them?

Bah.

I've done what I think is my last major fix to a VS 840.

The right-cursor finally gave up the ghost.

I had one operating machine and two for parts: couple weeks back I went through both the parts devices to see which of them had a good "control" board, and ditched what was left. I've got a good working machine now, getting some work done, but it's only a matter of time before something goes on this one, and the machines available on eBay are fewer, further between, and more questionable than they used to be.

Definitely not looking forward to tackling a new learning curve on a new machine, but next time around I may have to...
