Hi,

New member here. I bought a VS-890 in 2002 and had recorded on it extensively till a few years ago. I have recently got back to recording, this time on a mac using Logic Pro, and realized I want to backup all my old recordings and possibly remix and retouch some of them on Logic. So after doing some digging on the web I learned about CD2Roland which some kind soul apparently has made available for all. I went ahead and bought a SCSI cd-rom on e-bay and have started slowly backing up all my recordings, but I can't seem to find the CD2Roland file anywhere. I tried the link in this forum but my security software claims it's a trojan. Can anyone please help me out?

Thanks in advance!
Eran

It will not work on a Mac, but check your PM for download link

After using a PC to convert to .wav you can of course then import into a MAC

Hi bear, would you mind helping me too with the .exe file? The version I had also was tagged as having a virus. Thank you!

PS - why is an SCSI cd-rom required? Is it possible to just read the CD's directly with the PC's cd-rom?
Thanks!
Andy

The OP (Erin) hooked a scsi cd drive to the VS in order to create backup discs of the Songs.... the end goal was to then put those backup discs in the PC's cd drive and use the CD2Roland utility to rip the VS Songs into folders stored on the PC. Once that task is accomplished, there are a couple of other options available to allow a user to extract the track contents of the VS Songs and convert them into a format that any pc or mac daw can manipulate.

There is a combination hardware/software utility called VirDis that can use the pc's cd drive in conjunction with the VS 2480 to a not-yet-complete degree. However, there is no other way than what I've already described to read the contents of a VS Song Backup disc on the pc, from the pc's cd drive.

@adpgh - the SCSI drive is only required at the VS end (if you are using a machine that does not have an internal drive)

Once you have the backup disc created the cd2roland program will work using your internal PC drive

Check your PM for download link to the VSWE package
