We've all. You only speak for the panel of experts. You're also a complete liar if you don't admit you fixate on me. You even make up stuff to try to discredit me on a football thread, lunkhead.
No, you didn't read carefully. "I think we've all become conditioned to it to a point where it has no girth, no sting. You call lots of people names, not just the four you've singled out. Am I right?
Fixate? no. More like I read everything here and when say stupid things then I point them out.. like the football thread. One guy booed...not "fans" You read the article then still posted it. It was false. The End.

I was waiting for you to throw that in the mix. Doesn't matter about mine. I don't claim to be gods gift to shitty independent music.
ah so you not only claim to hate my music but you feel the same way about all the indies here.

Well to be fair, you said that several years ago before you became part of the panel of experts.

You know, this is really a political argument. The people I'm arguing with have taken the side that my music sucks in general, period. Most Planeteers have at one time or another liked something I did. But these guys put all my music under one dismissive blanket and that's why I'm not taking it. It's bullshit. It's dishonest. It's kind of sick, actually.

I KNOW I shouldn't, but I just can't help myself.
1. Setting to the side for a moment any of my feelings about your music, Al, positive or negative (and you know I've told you a lot of positive), I can't help but wonder what would happen if the "Review in Print" media was still around and relevant?
You think Pop gave you a hard, unfair crit on your song, and it has blown up into THIS?!!! REALLY?!!!
Good lord Scott, go back and read some of the initial reviews of albums we all see now as great. Some reviewers just didn't give a shit. But, I know this; If you threw a tantrum like you have thrown in this thread alone, in those days....Holy Mother of God! You'd be famous alright. Or should I say infamous. No record company would have touched you (personal opinion) and you really would have been living in your Mom's basement (instead of us joking about it) wondering how you could have went so wrong.
I get it man, I really do. Our songs are our children. But, sometimes one child just isn't making the grade, and no matter how much it hurts, we just have to suck it up and try harder.
2. As to Motown being a "nobody" and all the other names you've thrown his way. I'm going strictly on little things I've quietly read in many threads on here and my own personal feeling based on those bits of info, but I'd be willing to bet a steak dinner, that Motown is a whole HELL of a lot of "SOMEBODY" than you or I have even dreamed.
I'm talking "Heavyweight" dude.
Again just my personal opinion.
As always, YMMV.

What makes for a long argument is a group of 4 or 5 people who want to characterize my complete body of work one way.
They're not talking about one song, they're talking about ALL my songs. It's bullshit but when you have a gang of haters going to town, you don't take their shit. They say their propaganda and ignorant following fools like Cajun spread it further. Meanwhile there are numerous Planeteers who have liked several of my songs and none of them appear on this thread because the Planet is utterly dominated by Popmann and the panel of experts to the extent that even Flatcat rather than telling them they should give it a rest sides with their characterization. Everybody is too sceered of going against Popmann and Motown so I'm on my own. One time I critiqued one of Popmann's songs and he even agreed with what I said and that got me a 2 month flamewar with Jazzooo and Motown.
I'd add that if you had Motown humping your leg like a demented chihuahua for months, you'd feel differently about him I'm quite sure.

hahahaha
My ambition is to learn all the rules to I can tell when Al is breaking them. I'll have more to contribute then. However, I can give a completely objective opinion of Al's music since I've never heard any of it. It all sucks.
Just fuckin with ya, man.

About pop--
His opening comment was this:
"The composition is poor. "
No way would anything after that be taken as constructive. It was a dick thing to say. It's ok, Al's a dick too. But you know…
Followed by stuff like this:
"Your melody is beyond unremarkable."
"-To call the lyrics a half baked first draft would be kind"
And so on. It's very insulting stuff, done publicly of course. He'd be a shitty producer for certain. I have told artists "That's my least favorite of all the songs we're considering, and here's why…" and "the melody just doesn't hold my interest." But "That melody is terrible" is going to get a bad reaction every time--if Al thought it was terrible, he wouldn't have posted it.

Cajun, I thought this was going to be great thread, it was a great idea, too bad somebody had to fuck it up!
But you know how that Silversmith guy is, it's all about him and his songs! I crack me up!
I want to thank all of you who contributed your knowledge of song writing to this thread! Many gems of wisdom and experience to be learned here!

Absolutely. I am, after all, the greatest song writer alive today. . . . Wait - that's wrong - I am the greatest songwriter that has ever lived.
I crack me up! Pete
Me too!!!!!!!
By the way, I took your suggestion/comment on the "uncomfortable" lines in that "Livin' in Commanda" country tune to heart and redid a couple of lines (specifically the ones on which you commented). Wanna hear it?

It's a good song, anybody's loss who didn't listen. but it's always like that, the bandwagon at the Planet roots against me, so other lamos like you do as well.

I think I'd stand up for myself like this under any circumstances. I consider my music the best part of me. I wonder how you'd react if you had a group of people characterizing every note you ever played as terrible?
