I like it too. But, I'm not picky. I dig about 90% of Jeff's output.

Really annoying lyrics, and an inflated sense of self to keep repeating them. Killer guitar playing.

Quite frankly, I never tire of the evolution of Beck. People call on him because they will get creative stuff, played really well. The guy is great. He's always been a great player.

Wasn't interesting even for a few minutes. He can have any musician play on his shit and he has cut and paste drums that sound like Peter Gabriel outtakes from the 90s. Guitar tone was annoying. Singer was as reviewed above...

The thing about Jeff Beck? Your mind has to be open as his is when he's tracking stuff.
I've never heard him play any BS. He lays his playing right out there. He is an icon playing guitar.

Playing was okay. Tone? Not digging it. Everything else? Sounds kinda raided from bits and scraps.

I get the biggest kick out of people on this forum dressing down someone like Jeff Beck. To think they are on a level that what they say is impressive. "Oh ya Beck, no big deal. Don't dig it, bits and scraps, playing is OK."
Shit, unbelievable.

There's "Jeff Beck" and then there's the song. Beck could play "Mary Had A Little Lamb" and transform it into something wondrous. This song is the proof.

I love Jeff Beck and have listened to everything he's ever done. I don't like this piece of music. While I learn and listen to and play a ton of his stuff. This is one I don't care to ever hear again.
No deny he is the most lyrical poetic guitarist of our lifetime. That does not mean everything he does is good. This one sucks for the reasons I already mentioned. I agree with Doug on this.

Honestly, I just kinda tuned out the rest and listened to the guitar playing.
I like how Chimp phrased it "lyrical/poetic guitarist."
Is this recording Jeff Beck at his finest? No.
Like rhythmace47 said, "People call on him because they will get creative stuff, played really well."
To me, this is just like the recent "collaboration" stuff by Carlos Santana. Take a modern "artist" that the kids know, and have an iconic player add some "old school" flavor to their stuff.
I don't know who the vocalist is, and frankly don't care, but I think the production and style are (somewhat) relevant to what the market will bear.
An album like "Blow By Blow" would sink like a stone in today's musical landscape.

I recently listened (again) to his "Live At Ronnie Scots" thing he did a number of years back, and found myself wishing that he had a special guitar with more notes available, like another higher and lower string, just because I love what he does so much that I feel the 6-string guitar limits him.
He gets SO MUCH sound out of that damn strat. No fret left unplayed, and the expressiveness of his playing...defines the word "artist" on the guitar to me.
He paints with sound...

Jeff does nothing cliche. He adds Jeff Beck to everything he does. And most of it is awesome. He is the most unique player I know of cept maybe John McGlaughlin in the 1970's who happend to be one o Jeff's guitar heros.
