My VSR-880 isn't as living up to it's potential without a VS8F-2 F/X card.

I see them on Ebay for about $75 but I thought I would ask around here first. Thanks.

Hey,..are you sure it isn't a VS8F-1 card you are looking for? I just scored an 880 Expanded from the Pawn Shop...and it has a card in it...only holds one...and its a VS8F-1 card. I MIGHT sell it to ya...I was going to use it for parts for my VS-1680..just the transport buttons and hats underneath...but truthfully...I'm having a blast with the thing!! Here I am with a next to new VS 2480...and I'm farting around with this 880. The screen size and menu drive is what kills it for me...but the effects on the card seem to be about almost the same as the VS8F-2 card...those ones have dedicated mixing effects and suchwich...but I plugged in my electric and had a ball making all kinds of funky and loud and obnoxious sounds..
Sorry....got carried away. Yes...If I decide to sell the card I will let you know.

Looks like Slabraton is right, ricco. The VSR880 uses the 2-card, not the 1-card like the original 880 does.

I am guessing you have an 880 which has been updated to the EX version. This is where the confusion is because you are both right. The original Vs 880 took the VS8F-card but can be updated to "EX."

But the second model, the VS 880EX took the VS8F-2 card, (as did all later VS recorders). The way you can tell which version you have is simple: if the machine has a single coaxial output and the display is unlit, you have the original. If there are two digital outputs, you have the second release.

Thankyou Slabraton for giving me the instructions on how to identify the "880's" with the VS8F-2 card in it....a pawnshop near me has a bunch of these units, gathering dust, under a bench. I scored mine for $20 tax included, which nicely helped to fix my 1680 transport buttons. Gawd! If I can score a VS8F-2 card as well...!!!
I'm going back tomorrow lolol!!

Get the 880EX. You will need the lit screen and the two digital outputs are useful.

No, the vs880 had the vs8f1 and could be expanded to the VX version with it. The vs880EX (like the 890) came with all the effects of the vs8f2, but afaik, you cannot take that card out.

The VSR needs a vs8f2 - and these babies are getting harder and harder to find :-(
