3 months for 1$ then 10$ a month.
sounds much better than Youtube and no adds when you pay.
i just started using it at the restaurant where i work when i do the maintenance. that's when i started to get interested in it.
it's nice to be able to listen to new stuff for that price.

Watch your data usage if it's not unlimited and you're streaming at higher rates....but I'm guessing you already know that.

* no adds * higher bitrate if you want to * you can also download the songs
for me, it 's mostly to get rid of the adds and give my support. anyway, it's only 10$ a month.

No ads, higher def mp3....and easing your conscience that you're not "stealing" despite the fact that paying their tiny fee is actually WORSE for artists long term than simply listening for free.

anyway, the only thing that i deem precious in all i own are hard drives with all my music collection of about 500 albums. it's always been a worry for me that all of this could be erased in a building fire. with Spotify, the whole city could go up in flame for all i care. lol
not ALL of my music collect is on Spotify, but from what i can tell, well over 95% of it.

Plus you can share playlists, which is super handy for me. All the people in my scene use it to create their setlists, and when they hire me they just send me their Spotify playlist with all of the set in order. Makes it easier to learn an entire 90 min show. I dropped Spotify for a while to try Apple music. I couldn't even figure out how to make a playlist....it sucks. I'm back to Spotify now

I'm having pretty much the same experience with Apple Music. My free trial period is about to expire, and now I've got to figure out how to cancel it so they don't start charging me for scratching my head and swearing at it.

Spotify URL: spotify:user:moonmadness1:playlist:04zORp8VcBXog88IyoNpzN
2 hours of some of my favorite soul songs: Al Green, Otis, Smokey, Marvin, etc i have a Joe Satriani song to end the playlist, but it fits with the whole feel

cool Spotify trick: ---- i created a Playlist yesterday but i could not find it at the restaurant this morning. the reason being that your Playlist might need a few days to be searchable, and even then it might not show up if the ranking is not high enough. ---- solution:
enter in the Search box:
spotify:user:xxxxx
where the x are your username ---- this way, you can easily find your stuff without having to log into your account, or without sending yourself a link, etc

i decided to get my cake and eat it too!
instead of using the EQ (post above) i bought for Spotify, i rolled my own setup.
1- the EQ i bought above is now only used to route the audio out of Spotify to my plugin chain, via a virtual audio stream.
2- so it goes to my 'plugin mixer'; Blue Cat Audio Patchwork, which hosts the following plugins in serial:
3- Acon Digital Equalize
4- HOFA track utility, which i only use to widen the stereo a little and keep an eye on the Pre volume.
5- then to the HOFA IQ-Limiter, i use the IN trim as a Master volume. i use the brick-wall only to protect my speakers in case i push the wrong button somewhere, not to compress the signal.
6- then finally out it goes to the Windows sound.
easy-peasy. lol

Two or three years ago I wrote a post here about how great streaming was for me called "Thank God for Napster" or something like that. I took a lot of flak for that stance from a lot of you, but I said give it a year or two and just about all of you would also pay for a streaming site.
Pretty sure just about all of you do now.
It's not so great for musicians, but it's great for musicians.

Paraphrasing Popman comment from that thread which puts it nicely as: you are now paying someone to make music worth nothing.

That's factually not even close to a true equation. First Netflix puts out MILLIONS and MILLIONS of that investor cash to content creators....now for exclusive content....and then, who they put out of business was Blockbuster, who before them put the mom and pop rental biz out of business. Neither of those drove/paid movie creators.
You can't equate businesses that have VERY different business models....both on the modern side you're arguing and the content creation side....just because they're "streaming entertainment content over the internet".
People bought DVDs and BlurRays for what a decade? MAYBE....? That wasn't the basis of the movie biz. That was some(times very) lucrative side cash.

But, you can't possibly think you understand this more than me--so OWN that you don't care if anyone gets paid to create music ever again. It's honest. I know plenty of people who think that way. I'm not interested in changing their( or your) mind, but I'm simply putting out the information that can land on those who THINK they're doing something good. A LOT of people spending $9.99/mo on recorded music is more than they EVER spent before (on average)....it's not self evident that the money is going to people completely unrelated to content creation. Intentionally.

RADIO PARADISE is a blend of many styles and genres of music, carefully selected and mixed by two real human beings. You'll hear modern and classic rock, world music, electronica, even a bit of classical and jazz. What you won't hear are random computer-generated playlists or mind-numbing commercials.
Our specialty is taking a diverse assortment of songs and making them flow together in a way that makes sense harmonically, rhythmically, and lyrically — an art that, to us, is the very essence of radio.

Our new web player has lots of new features: the ability to instantly skip to the next song, an expanded array of PSD (Play Something Different) options, and lots more. Not sure how Spotify works -- but this a Beta --- at Paradise Radio Features
Just say "Alexa, play Radio Paradise on TuneIn"
Stream 320k AAC -- fine enough for my headset MP3 player /car or my PC speakers ...

We share an account with the band with our song list on it so we can all learn the songs from the same version. It's a handy tool, for sure.
