Anyone using the 2480 as a control surface and if so, what do you think?
Thanks, Dan

I use it for reaper. There is a special control surface dll made especially for reaper. Works really nice. Pro tools hui is ok but limits you to only 8 faders per bank, where as reaper gives you 16 per bank.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to use it with the latest version of Reaper on Mac. Is the dll in Reaper or do I have to get it?
Happy Holiday, Dan

Read up on the control surfaces. You can set up logic on mac, but other than that, your on own. With three kids I jumped off the technology train staying with win 7 32bit.
Happy Holidays to you too.

Agreed, sadly it's only a 32 bit version \:\(

It does work great, but if you're using a ton of plugins in Reaper, 64 bit is the way to go.

Thanks for the help. Sadly, it looks like the 2480 days are coming to an end.

Dan:

I use an SI-24 for control. It uses the same control overlay as the 2480.

I have a customized keymap for the SI-24 in which many of the 24's buttons have been reassigned to operate REAPER actions. It "should" work with the 2480.

PM if you would like a copy of the keymap file and a photo of the labeled buttons.

Does one have to do all this "setup" for the VS to connect with Reaper ??

In order to do this you need to create a user control surface template in the control surface menu on the VS. Set the USR template to the below values:

Yes C JO. You have to setup the midi. It's pretty simple really. You drag a dll into the proper reaper folder, Go into reaper preferences, add a control surface and set the 2480 up.

I'll have to look tonight for the folder name. MAKE SURE WINDOWS IS 32 BIT OR ITS USELESS. If it is you just have to copy the dll in the folder(i'll try to edit this tonight when I know) and within the user control surface in the roland, set these up. I promise you its really simple. Then obviously you have to plug in the roland to an available midi port or sound device you have on the pc.

Does anyone know how to get this to work with the VS-2400CD? In the 2400 we have a "V-Fader" option, but not "Control Surface". Has anyone had any success getting the 2400 working with Reaper for control surface purposes? I'm using a V-Fire via MIDI, etc.
Does anyone have the details of the configuration of the VS & Reaper for this? Thanks.
