For some reason my 2480 appears to record, good input level, shows grey bar on recording but for some reason will not play back. Sync is set to interior.

What can I do? Help please I'm trying to record an album for a song writer/singer.

Has it actually recorded audio. Have a look at the track using the wave view to see if there is something there.

Yup, what Ian said, just because you see a gray line doesn't mean you have anything routed to that track or it's possible something was turned down on the input side.

Hi Jim:

Try this(found on p147 of the Owner Manual):

Resetting Mixer Parameters
You can quickly reset most mixer parameters to their default values should you wish to
start over with a “clean slate.” To do this:
1. Press UTILITY.
2. Press PAGE until “PrmIni” appears above F6.
3. Press F6 (PrmIni).
4. Turn the TIME/VALUE dial to select MIXER.
5. Press F5 (OK)—a confirmation screen appears.
6. If you’re sure you want to proceed, press ENTER/YES. To cancel the operation,
press EXIT/NO.

This will clear things that may be responsible for your frustration. Of course you've backed everything up first! Then record some new material and see whether the problem is gone.

You may need to go and set up your play back / audio / monitoring in the EZ routing or patchbay ??? Which is something I do at the beginning of each and every project.. Via Franks ( VS Bible )

Before any project, you want to go into the Patch bay, Clear patch bay, then initialize it, Clear track Assign, then initialize it . So as to not have any left over parameters or settings from other projects.. and I then ( again via franks suggestions) I set up my audio .. In the top right corner of the EZ routing (patch Bay) I pull the Coax Optical outputs ( both listed at far right as LR ) pull them down to the ( MON ) lines, then in the same area of the patchbay ( top right ) I pull the ( PHONE 1 - 2 ) up from the MON lines to the MST lines.. which in turn should give you audio with head phones and Monitor knobs being separate... ? Hope this helps and or makes sense ?
