Is is just me or are the VS2480 prices heading skyward?

Lately, it seems every time I have a little search on eBay a good VS2480 is upwards of $1250..
Anyway, just thought this was VS Planet worthy.

I've seen the same, but these are 'asking prices', so who knows how much money's actually changing hands?
Actually, we know - the 2 or 3 guys who are always buying and listing VS2480-related gear. They know what they pay and what they get for them. But probably won't share the info!

Some of those listings on ebay have been there for over a year with totally unreasonable prices. Too bad, as those machines are just sitting there collecting dust in their pots.

The sold VS2480s on eBay went from $500.00 to $2500.00 for the month of May 2017. The average looks to be more like $500-$800.

I guess the $2500 one was packed with VS8F-3 cards!
Here in England, it seems £600+. I got mine about 3 months ago for £650, and it came with 1xVS8F-3 (with Autotune) and 2xVS8F-2, plus lots of mic leads and an ext SCSI drive.

They sell for $500-1200 depending on condition, features, and extras that come with it. Plain Jane 2480HDs go for $500-600, 2480CDs are next $600-900, and the 2480DVDs go for $900-1200.
The high priced ones sit for months and months, posted by full time re-sellers hoping to find a fool to purchase them.

I've seen a lot of variation in the VS prices, but not sure about the averages now. There seems to be a lot of variation in the configurations last time I looked, and a lot of claims about their nearly-new condition. Faders and switches do wear and get dirty, and displays grow dim... repairs are not inexpensive. Some online sellers are not really honest, and some just don't know how to evaluate the systems, perhaps because they never used them very much.
I've owned my two 2480's for several years. Neither one was cheap. My first one cost $1,500 for one (no VS8F-3 cards, and 2 -2 cards) and $2,000 for the other (with a -2 and a -3 card, most plugins, and an AD/DA converter). They were both low-time, one almost new. The second one had unreported issues when I got it, and cost over $1,000 to revamp. Now both are in top condition, and currently spend most of the time covered, at least for now anyway. I now have two of the -2, and two -3 cards in each machine and all the software for each, plus two MB-24's.

The "add on's" seem to keep their prices--- VS specific :: external drive /DVD burners /etc.

I was in FiJi a little while ago and found a 'new in box' VS-CDR II External Burner with a retail of $1650 FJD. It was hidden away with a whole lot of other goodies in an old display. I said how much, Ken said make an offer. I said how about $35.00 FJD he said okay. Flew it back to Melbourne, sure beats the other souvenirs I could have purchased! :-)
