Again i hope your combined knowledge helps me out sorting a new problem.
I'm trying to update from v1.00 to v1.504 cause of Track Export difficulties.
As far as i can see i followed all instructions but i can't get the 2400 to read the inserted CD.

I downloaded the update for MAC/CD Roland support from the Roland website.
I've burned the following files to CD by using DiskBlaze (iso 9660):
VS2400v1504.ISO.ISO
VS2400v1504.NRG.NRG
VS24001504.IMG

Then followed the update instructions (machine is empty):
-Insert the update cd
-Shutdown following shutdown procedure
-Wait ten seconds then start up the machine again
-The machine will scan the disc and will go into update mode, then follow procedure.
But it won't go into update mode, it just normally loads an Initial Prg.

I guess something goes wrong burning the update on cd.
Or maybe its me ;-)
It's really hard to find answers online, i hope you guys can help me out sorting this problem.

Thanks so much!!

Just trolling to say I've got a VS2000CD and did a similar upgrade a long time agon in a galaxy far far away ...

>>>> I've burned the following files to CD by using DiskBlaze (iso 9660):
VS2400v1504ISO.ISO
VS2400v1504NRG.NRG
VS24001504.IMG
<<<<

An .iso is normally a single self contained disc image - you seen to indicate all three images are being burnt to same CD ... is that correct procedure ??

right - you want to burn an iso image to the cd. Your burning program (which I know nothing of DiskBlaze ) must be able to burn an iso disc. The NRG file you have is a Nero iso image format and I believe may only be burnable in Nero. The IMG is some image file (like a photo, picture) and I have no idea how it specifically relates to what you need to burn.

I don't use a mac, so can't help much with specifics, but it appears that the Roland download page has references to specific instructions you should be following in order to successfully download, extract and burn the iso image using your mac and software. You might want to examine whether or not DiskBlaze is actually capable of burning the iso image you need. You may want to use Toast, which has been the primary mac burning software for many years and certainly must be capable of burning iso images.

Once the disc has the correct image burned to it, the VS should definitely see it as an update disc and proceed as you would expect it to.

Tnx you guys.

I used DiskBlaze because that was suggested in the 'read me' pdf instructions included in the update download.

In the meanwhile i really tried every thing i could think of with no result. I followed the instructions to the letter, used several burn progs and multiple ways of burning and i'm running out of ideas.
Can't get my finger around it.
The original Roland update cd would be very useful!

Big up

When you read the diskblaze instructions, did you also take note that it specifically tells you to burn the ISO file to disc?

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CD-BURNING (DiscBlaze)

5. On DiscBlaze’s “Select Disc Image” window, navigate to the “VS2400V1504.iso”

The instructions do not tell you to burn anything else to the disc. If you do so - as you outlined in your earlier post - then the roland cannot read the disc........ period.

Do exactly as the burning program instructions have been outlined in the os update readme text file.

You should not have to make any special settings changes in your burning program beyond making the correct burn choice - so that it will burn only that iso file to the disc.

Thanks uptildawn, did that.

Then again, my downloaded file is named 'VS2400V1504.iso.iso'
That's odd.
Retried it a couple of times but everytime it downloads with that double .iso.iso extention.
Allthough i know it's not the way to go i erased the second .iso but that also did not work.
Anyone?

try downloading the update from roland's website again and burning an iso from that fresh download maybe?

don't overwrite the old download, remove it before downloading the fresh files...

Hi there!

uptildawn I erased all files from my computer and downloaded the iso file from the Roland website again just like you said but no result: it still .iso.iso

Tried this on three Macs: two Macbook pro's and an ancient Macbook but when i download the update the extension remains .iso.iso instead of .iso :-(

I'm pretty sure this is the error since the website clearly stats it must me vs2400cdv1504.iso and not vs2400cdv1504.iso.iso

Big Love

Can you not change the file name on a MAC ????

Just remove the extra .iso ??

Gonna visit a tech wizard this week, hope he can help me solve this mystery.

Just checking,

so your your friend

#1 downloaded the .iso file from the Roland website onto their Windows PC;
#2 burnt the .iso file to a CD on their Windows PC - AS A DISC IMAGE - not as a file;
# 3 handed the CD to you and you followed the Roland 'boot' procedure ?

If that did not work I would check Roland about the .iso files.

I did the same a few years ago but for the VS2000CD and it was fine.

I got it! :-)

In the end we had to use the .img file and burned that on my Macbook Pro by the tab 'copy' in Toast Titanium using the setting 'Disk Image'.
Not exactly the procedure the manual wanted me to follow but it worked.

Thanks for your patience and help you guys!!!
Rock on.

I've always found Nero to be good for burning iso images...... In fact, you could have burned it from the NRG image file as well, since that's Nero's own special file extension.

Curious that it wouldn't work using the recommended burning program.... Glad you finally got it, though.
