After reading some threads on the various 2480 makes (HD, CD, DVD) I started wondering about mine, and when it was manufactured. More than anything I'm wanting to know if I have the newer pre's.

It has the DVD drive and is running 2.50. However, I purchased it used and can't find a manufacturing date, nor does the unit I.D. itself as any of the models above. It simply says "Roland VS 2480."

Does anyone have a link or info that might help me?

Thanks in advance.

IIRC, it's not newer preamps, but some resistors which were left out of the HD and(some of?) the CD models. If yours is a "factory" DVD machine, not an upgrade, it will have the resistors.

It's not a bad job to install the missing resistors-- you need 32 1/4 watt 1 megohm resistors, an anti-static wristband and intermediate soldering skills.

To test for the presence of the resistors:

No link but the serial number may lead you in the right direction!

Awhile back they had a Roland serial number enter, you could find out any product's month and year when it was made with your serial #. But about 2 years Ago it no long was showing up and now its gone makes you kinda wonder why ?

It's because Roland doesn't support the machine anymore.
