I love a good maple snare. It sounded to me like the sample replaced it, though. It was so disconnected for the rest of the kit.....
I gotta tell you brother... it must be hard for you to just listen and enjoy... you know... without all the analysis. Good grief... that whole kit sounds f'n killer to me.

Local band. Always reading about them playing around Madison, WI....ashamed to say this was my first time hearing them. Perhaps I should go out some night and catch them. LOL
Ya, that was funkin' good. Tight!! That band has been on the Madison scene forever. Shame on me for not checking it out.

I didn't really notice it hear until Doug said he loved it. I'm always intrigued by what people think sound good. Especially people who don't usually mention things like that.

A common affliction for people who record, mix, produce, arrange, perform and write music. Also people who play multiple instruments and produce video:
Analysis and over analysis of music, performances, songs, videos, etc.
I try to keep my particular analysis obsession in check. I really just want to enjoy the music. If I don't, I like to figure out why. I'm better at it than some but recognize its side effects. Actually I'm way more tolerant of individual elements and try not to let them poison my experience.
I like this band. They're fun, tight, good solid playing. I'd love to mix their show. Most bands create a better, more enjoyable experience in live concerts anyhow.
When I first listened, I gravitated back and forth between just groovin' to the song and the video edits, the poppin snare, the missing percussionist audio, the tom fills at the end that weren't on the video, and the three voices on the audio while only two sang. But, "this is a fun band playing a cool song" won out. See, analyst-man tried to dominate my thoughts.
