I just want some updates on the TDIF>RBUS adaptor! \:D I have TWO uses for this as we speak (for the PA system, and for bouncing my hours and hours and hours of tracks to my PC). It could save me the cost of a second DIF-AT24, and speed up my bounces.

Damn RBUS ( ;\) )

I'll be surprised if it materializes.

Is Dweil out there?

Any progress with the TDIF>RBUD? The V-Fire could maybe be a while.....

Reviving an old thread, wondering if anyone has done an opampmod on their VS lately and if the 2604s and 2134 is still THE choice. Is there any new or updated opamps that would work with the VS? Hope BearM or Danny can comment here.

I have a 2nd unit that have yet to have The Fix and would like to get them done while the unit is open. Also, if the spare connector would work with a SCSI CDRW connected directly to it since I have an old Yamaha 4416 lying around somewhere.

AFAIK, the Burr-Brown op amps 2604 and 2134 are the only ones anyone here have used. I'm thinking that other limitations in the VS circuit design might come into play, and further gains in audio quality may be difficult to obtain.

Just my opinion, but I doubt any mods to the VS will give you Neve console quality, for example, as the rest of the machine would need to be built to very high design standards to realize significant sonic changes.

If the Burr-Brown chips are installed in sockets as recommended, and another op-amp is found to work better at a later date, it would be a simple matter to switch them out. But if circuit modifications are required to get a slight gain in quality, you're getting into a re-design aspect of the unit... not a lot of Planet guys have weighed in on this, as it could get complicated.

With that said, I am always interested in ANY information which can make the machine better. Just remember... Roland is hesitant to offer very much assistance at this time on a design they have discontinued.
