Hi

So Iíve ventured back into the vs world and am really happy with the reunion, fantastic sounds, reliable and easy to use. Iíve got a copy of t racks that I plan to use for mastering purposes. The only stumbling block is getting the fully mastered track off of the vs... I have been looking into this and have come across the line 6 sonic port. You can connect a stereo input into the device which in turn connects directly to your iPhone. My main concerns were-

1. Quality of sound transfer through the cable
2. An app to use to record the music once it arrives on the phone.

Iím recording using M24 recording mode at 48khz so wouldnít really want to loose the quality.

Thanks for any input.

Gary

I assume you don't have VirDIS, but you can transfer audio from the VS2480 to your Tab/SP using this method.

Ah interesting, is it a decent quality data transfer? I had a quick look on line but the results only brought up a sound card for Pc usage... I guess that going forward with the vs series, people will want modern methods of exporting there songs onto present day platforms.

You could try the digital out of the VS2480 to a digital input on a PC/MAC into a DAW. Once there you can convert/export into any kind of format you want.

That is to say - you would be RECORDING out through the digital output - not "transferring" out the digital path...

Would there be much deterioration to sound quality recording from the monitor outs? The line 6 sonic doesnít have a digital source.... in trying to cut out the use of a daw as Iíve just come from that avenue..

The A/D/D/A converters in the 2480 are 24 bit in and out, so there's no loss in that sense. Whether or not you like how the analog outputs sound, vs. the digital outputs is more of a personal opinion to me.

I've used the analog outputs of a 1680 with very satisfactory results in the past and didn't feel I was losing anything over the digital out. In fact, in my case, I was able to 'transfer' up to 8 tracks at once, instead of just 2, so it was a plus for me.

I couldn't find any real specs on the line 6 stereo line input - I'd be more interested in whether my signal would be degraded there more than I would out the 2480 analog outs... If it were me, I'd just try some experiments with what I've got on hand to try and see whether or not I was satisfied with the results.
