Hi,
In all of this time of owning my VS2480s I have never used the Mastering Track. I used to record from 1 vs2480 into my VS2000. In th VS2000 I understand how to use the mastering track (which is always the stereo track of the last two fader beside the Master volume)

Then I began recording from the output on the VS units straight into another external recorder.

I will watch the VS DVD manual once I find it. However until then can someone explain How to get the Mastering room set up for a final recording?

Cheers,
IAn

Not in front of my V at the moment but if I'm remembering correctly, you enable the Mastering Room which by default selects tracks 23/24 as your stereo pair (uses virtual tracks 16 I think) and record your mix down. Make sure the "CD record mode" (dither) is selected if you plan to burn direct to a disc.

Yep. Basically as simple as that.

You master all your tracks to any v-track on tracks 23/24 you choose. V-track 16 is the default with the presumption being you might have recorded tracks on a lower number v-track on 23/24 that you need to print to master.

So, you could theoretically have tracks on all 24 tracks and say on 23 and 24 it's on v-track 2.

Then when you master, it'll print all 24 tracks to track 23/24 v-track 16 (if you leave it at default). Then v-track 16 on 23/24 will contain your stereo two-track of your whole mix.

Personally, I recommend AGAINST enabling the "CD Rec Mode" setting, because that renders those v-tracks useless for regular recording should you end up needing to use them for that purpose later on (v-tracks printed with CD Rec enabled will have an asterisk next to them.)

I'm pretty sure the only advantage gained is, if CD Rec is enabled when you print your master, it will just take a little less time to make the image file and burn the disc.

But otherwise, you really don't need to enable it. You will still be able to burn a disc just fine. I never use CD Rec mode anymore.

Are you asking how to create a stereo file in order to "Master" it, or are you attempting to simply make a CD?

Hi All,
I simply wanted to make a CD from a stereo track. I know how to use the mastering room and how to enable the plug-ins and effects.

I just never burned a CD from the VS2480HD with external burner. I own two as stated before.

It's just really straight forward on the VS2000. In any case I figured it all out today after watching the video posted in another thread.

Cheers,
Ian

Just a little confused as to how it's not straight forward. It's literally 3 clicks. Takes 5 seconds.

The only thing that takes any time is the storing of the song.
