VS2480 and Reaper

I've recently been researching "Reaper" and am just about sold on making the purchase. Not looking to replace MY 2480, I love it, but looking to enhance it's capabilities with the plugins available with Reaper.
I'm hoping that some of you might give me some feedback on the pro's and cons in adding it to my 2480.

it still only cost 60.00....
it accepts nearly all current and past vst and dx plug-ins.....
it comes in both 32 and 64 bit versions (not related to audio quality).....
it's footprint on a computer has been and probably still is minimal, which means it works on just about any old computer you can install it on (that is the program and its native plug-ins)... it's other stuff that you add on that can make it incompatible with older computers.....
it can import many VS songs/projects raw tracks directly (nothing else can do that)...
cons........
you have to take the time to learn how to use it effectively and efficiently before it feels as comfortable as the VS does after you've been using it for 5, 10, 15 years......

Thanks for the response! I would like to ask a couple of more detailed questions as time allows (working right now), but am curious as to the latest PC operating system that Reaper supports with the 2480, and if the current version of Reaper (5.77) is applicable to the latest OS supported.

Absolutely love Reaper! I downloaded the free trail first, which is basically the full program from the get go. Used it for a bit and was so impressed that I went and bought the license for it ($60). I use it for mixdown (via spdif from Roland) and I also import the majority of my tracks into Reaper for mixing/editing.
Have just started tracking straight to Reaper in the last 6 months or so, dipping my toes in to see what my computer will handle (Win 7 4gb ram) as I hope to build a better PC in the near future optimized for Reap but so far so good!

Thanks again, guys. I signed up and posted on the Reaper forum regarding my initial question here. Unfortunately not getting much response.
Question: has anybody here transferred a .Wav disc(s) of a song into Reaper? In other words, is a device like Virdis absolutely necessary to transfer a 2480 song with 30 tracks to Reaper?

I've done this often via exported WAV files.
On the 2480, export tracks to WAV(AFAIK, this can be done only to CD/CDRW-- not external HD or DVD) and just drag them into REAPER. As you're exporting entire tracks, there is no syncing to do-- the start of the WAV will be at 0:00:00:000. That said, you can drag them along the timeline as much as you like.

I use the VSWE program to rip WAVs from my back-up DVDs and then drag those into reaper. IME, it may be a little faster than using the WAV export - to CD function on the VS, if your VS has a DVD drive.
