Can anyone explain to me the benefit of adjusting the "Rec Bus Att" when bouncing several tracks to a stereo track? Been doing some reading and understand that it brings all tracks to the same level, but has me confused a little as to the point.

I've got 8 tracks of drums I need to bounce and want to make sure I'm getting the best from the process. I've bounced background vocals with good success using the default -6, but drums are a different animal. Thanks in advance.

It's all really just part of gain staging..... get all the individual tracks and effects (if any) set so that they don't clip and are balanced with each other. Then while setting up the bounce, check to make sure the loudest/most dense parts of the mix blend aren't clipping going to the destination track(s).
If all else is good, then try setting the record buss attenuation down a bit. Otherwise, leave it at the default, if you like.

I don't really think there's much more to it, unless there's some special affect you want to impart on a bounce that involves setting it really low or high...

For drums.. if the individual drums sound good and you have their levels contained the way you want them - as in compressed/limited - you might put some peak limiting on the bounce mix, if that's possible. I don't work with the 2480, so I don't know all the ins and outs....

Thanks for the info. Did a little reading on it and it's pretty much what you said. I think I may just leave it alone and make sure that the compression and automation is set, and just bounce them. Should be fine if I watch my levels.
