Hi All,

I just found the code I wrote for the 32-bit Reaper plugin to import VS take files. Any interest in a 64-bit version?

I just acquired a VS-1880 for almost nothing so my interest has been renewed in these devices.

Also, see my other thread about how to read and convert the VS-1880 IDE drives directly onto your PC. No more need to rip from CDs or copy to SCSI backups.

Cheers,

Randy

Well, I don't think I'll revisit the Reaper plugin, but some might find this useful:

EDIT:

Here is the latest build of the vs.exe which two users here have reported success with on their VS-1680s:

the 64 bit vs 32 bit context discussed here is not an audio quality difference, Tree.... one won't sound better or worse than the other. I don't know enough to describe it, because I don't run a 64 bit system myself and haven't learned the differences, but it has to do with a difference in computer systems.

I'm wondering how much work it would be to go the other way with the plugin, to allow you to save projects from Reaper in VS format.

Beyond that it would be awesome to be able to save them in a VirDIS file.

I just see it as a need for those of us who exchange projects back and forth with people using DAWs.

Would it be difficult to add that ability?

randygo, you could make the code open source so others could add to/modify it.

Just a suggestion.

Hi Randy,

Just a quick note to thank you for work you did for making it possible to open & use the Roland song files in Reaper.
It's been extremely important to me for the past few years in allowing me the ability to use all the tracks from my many years of recording with the Roland VS units.
Plus you introduced me to Reaper which I now use exclusively for recording. Love using Reaper with the old Roland tracks.
I'm currently using a Roland Octa-Capture 10/10
It's made my new recording setup possible.
I'm truly grateful to you and Bear for all your work.
Sincerely,
Eric Mestre

Is there a plugin for Reaper to open the VS backup discs for Reaper 64bit on a Mac?
