So, I just recently tried to get the 2480 to auto mix a change in EQing on a drum track where I wanted the Bass drum to be heavy in the front of the song and then boost the snare high eq after that part was over. I went into Automix and made the drum track record enabled and made the changes as I ran the track. It didn't appear to record this. I did it by grabbing the little arrows over the range that I wanted to raise and lower, but then I tried it by moving the turn wheel to do it which was slower to do, but it still didn't seem to record the movement. My question is, can this even be done at all or is the only thing that can be auto mixed is the sliders?

automix is not performed from record mode - it's performed while in playback mode (whether in realtime, or step).
Check your manual - there's a lot about it there:
Activating Automix Mode
1. Stop project playback.
2. Press AUTOMIX—it lights amber to show Automix mode is active.
3. To turn Automix mode off, press AUTOMIX again—its light turns off.

Also a section in AUTOMIX --- that you have to make sure the EQ is ticked on the box ...

While in AUTOMIX mode, hold that button down, while pressing the red REC button for a quick way to enter automix rec mode.

For nitty gritty automix stuff like this I prefer to go into the automix edit mode under utilities. Once in there you can select the distinct parameter you want to adjust and just click “create.” Of course, you’ll also need to “create” your initial eq setting at the 0:00 time stamp and then when you want the kick or snare to change, you “create” those changes at the point in time you want them to occur.

It’s probably overly meticulous; and especially with EQ you do have to pay attention to what you’re doing since each eq parameter (freq band, freq, gain, q) can be individually adjusted so you keep all your ducks in a row...but IMO, it’s the clearest way to really see WTF is going on, see precisely what you’re automixing, and make sure you’re only changing exactly what you intend to change.

In fact, I do almost all of my auto mixing this way now. Just much easier to go to the specific parameter, create it, or delete it, or adjust it directly, and/or move it back or forward on the timeline if it’s coming too late or too soon.
