Hi All. I have an existing project stored (call it "Song A"}. I open the project and make some changes. I want to save the project with the new changes, but want to keep the original project as it was. Is there a way to do a "save as" thing on the 2480? I have a few ideas, but don't want to mess it up. Thanks for any suggestions!

The only way that I know is to copy the project first. So, copy Song A, rename the copy Song B and away you go.

Also, even if you've already saved the new changes in Song A, you can create your Song B copy and then go back to Song A and use UNDO to return to the state previous to the changes you made and at the state you want to keep as Song A - Then save this again, once you've confirmed the state of the Song is the way you want it to represent "A" version.
This suggestion assumes that you have not already Optimized the Song A since having created the new changes. The old version should still be accessible, as long as you have not recently optimized.
This suggestion also assumes that you may have already made changes before deciding to create and save an alternate version and compare the two later.
Really though, your simplest option is as Big Ian has suggested, making a copy of Song A before adding any changes, naming one of the copies Song B and then creating your changes in that Song B session.

Thanks guys! I guess I'm too used to doing the old "Save as" on a computer. I'd already made the changes, and can't undo as they are Track Exchanges. So, I will just do a shutdown and choose NOT to save the project, bring it back up and do the copy and rename the project as Big Ian suggests. Thanks for your help!

You can also take advantage of v-tracks and saving SCENES, both a tremendous help.

That's what I was thinking.
Why not just save distinct scenes? Way easier than toggling betwixt projects and doesn't eat up space.

Scenes are good for mixer settings but if you move tracks about, delete tracks or phrases a scene doesn't capture those type of things.

With the low cost of cd-rs and dvd-rs, I back up any sessions I do daily - this way I can always get back to anything I want to.
