Does everyone use the
external monitor,
mouse and/or
keyboard here?
So far, I'm using the onboard display but think it might make things go smoother with the external stuff.
Also, where is the best place to buy those things?
Thanks in advance.

The 2480 is far easier to use with the Monitor, keyboard, mouse setup. Not sure where the best places to buy those items in your local area are, but shouldn't be difficult. Most pawn shops, and Ebay should suffice. Or maybe a local Facebook marketplace.

+1 to that.

Take a look at the Logitech Trackman Marble. It's a USB trackball(comes with PS2) adapter, and since desktop space can be dear, I find the trackball to be more practical.

We just use whatever PS2 kbd and VGA monitor is available- currently a 32" LG flat screen that a tenant abandoned.

All the time. Couldn't imagine working without it. Drag and drop, color screen, left and right click functions etc.

I haven't used a trackball in years. Do you find it easier on the hands? I honestly can't remember whether I liked it or not.

Since I have not done this before;
All you need to do is plug in the monitor, mouse (or trackball) and computer keyboard and VOILA, you have liftoff?

I'm assuming that you have to plug these in before booting up... It's not plug 'n play.

You'll need to make sure your monitor is set to the correct cycle. I think it's 66Hz.

Absolutely easier on the hands, and you can give it a flick to move long distances quickly.

Thanks. Any suggestions on a model? I'm getting ready to look some up, but thought I'd ask anyway.

I would suggest that if you've never used a trackball and are considering using one (and if they still offer more than one trackball orientation - center or side), that you should find a store near you that carries some and go there and see what they feel like. I have found them to be a very individual preference thing - especially anything beyond the basic 2-button traditional mouse.

What I personally have found useful has turned out to NOT be most of my friend's first choices.

Man, you are dead on. I looked at a number of them, one of which was the same orientation I used years ago when I was doing video editing. There is so much to consider as far as feel. I think Fry's has a decent selection that I could actually try. At least I'm hoping so.

Well you don't have to spend this much

One of the nicest - we have 4 --and have had them for decades .. each of our system run with them

What we use everyday with the VS

I got my Logitech trackballs at Fry's in IL. Now in OH, I really miss Fry's.

Found an old Trackman Marble by Logitech in the electronics bin at the salvation army for 99 cents! Works like a charm.

I use a Logitech optical mouse, the most basic one, does everything I need it to do on the VS2480. These trackball mice seem a bit like old technology, I remember the original mice that had trackballs underneath them, eventually they collected all the flotsam and jetsam and required cleaning out every month...just my opinion.

C Jo Go,

I like the Keyboard + Trackball ALL in One unit. Is it still available for sale by MFG?

Thanks,
John

All -

Has anyone used a angled desktop stand for VS-2480 for better viewing of work surface?

John
