I'm trying to import .wav files that I burned on a CD with winows10. My machine doesn't like it. I'm using the burn software that comes standard with windows 10.
Is there a no problem software that you guys are using? I tried Nero as well. No luck. I didn't have this problem with Nero on XP, which I don't have anymore.
Thanks,
Ron
BTW can I import files from USB on the 2000?

There appears to be an extensive section on using the USB connection to a computer, starting on pg 81 of the pdf version of the VS2000 manual. You should download it from Roland's support pages and read the section carefully in order to try out and understand the various procedures possible. importing files is among those features that can be accomplished this way.

Also, read up on the section about burning .wav files to CD for importing that way. The information is sparse, but it does contain info that you can check and verify about the software you are using to create the CD. But basically, just about any software that can burn .wav files to a CD as a data disc should be able to comply with the 2000's needs. You also have the ability to extract audio from audio CDs, so you should read up on that feature too. It might help you out.

Maybe the CDs you're currently using to burn the .wav files to are the problem, as far as the VS is concerned. It's always a good idea to have at least a couple different brands on hand for when the VS burner gets finicky. Sometimes running a disc cleaner through the burner 3-4 times can help. I think you can use either CD and/or DVD cleaning discs for this purpose... but you might want to experiment to see if a DVD disc is actually spinning up and doing its business, if that's what you have to work with.

You probably know this, but there is a difference between burning an audio cd and burning a data disc containing .wav files. In burning an audio disc, the software encapsulates the .wav files inside of .cda shells that a cd player then reads.

Importing an audio cd can sometimes produce strange results. It is better to create a data disc with .wav files. Is that what you are doing?

Yes and it used to work fine. W 10 will burn both types, but the data burn makes the Roland error out. I have burned an audio ( .cda ) and imported it as a CD and it works. Just rather get the .wav file in. I'm recording at 16 bit, so I guess I'm good till I figure this out. BTW Any data .wav file that I've burned with XP works fine. I just downloaded Nero and it errors the same, so now I'm not sure if it's the software or not.

Sounds like Microsoft have changed the format for the meta-data they embed within .wav with windows 10 (artist name, song title, etc). Probably for some evil W10 DRM reason. In which case, investigate if you can get a copy of Windows 7. But this is assuming that's the issue. Maybe someone with Windows 10 and a VS000 can advise if they have the same issue.

I figured it out. Win 10 wants to format the disc before burning. I Just bypassed this.
Thanks for all your help. I'm good now.
