Hi uptildawn and thanks for the response!
After much hunting about in my attic I found an old PC running XP and 'stole' the missing 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' file to get 'VS Wave Export' working on my Windows 10 laptop.
I connected my IDE HD (while I had the VS2480 open) to my laptop via a SATA>USB connector and it read the HD. From here I was able to open a song file and convert the tracks to .wav format using the 'VS Wave Export' software ... so I know that works!
This isn't a practical solution once I'd re-assemble and I was just hoping (after fitting a NOS CD/DVD drive that I would be able to do song back up out to disc (CD-R/CD-RW/DVD even).
What's happening though is that the disc gets burnt and I get right to the end of the progress bar (I've tried this 5 times now) ... but it spits the disc out and I don't get the 'Done!' message.
When I put the burnt backup disc into my laptop CD drive it sees 'O files' and when I go to the 'Extras' drop down in 'VS Wave Export' and try to use the bundled Roland2CD Ripper I get an error message saying it doesn't see the path.
My workaround now is to use 'Track Export' and burn .wav files that way but it would have been good (and quicker no doubt!) to have the option to back up my song projects.
Like I say, everything else I've tested seems to be working fine. It's a very nice example with very little mileage on the clock from the looks of it.
Just a shame I can't crack this back up thing!
Thanks again for your help here
