Merry Christmas everyone and Best Wishes for the coming new year.

Can someone tell me how to date my VS2480 ? I'd like to know what year it was manufactured.

Also, can someone tell me how to check the "clock" usage hours on my 2480 ?

Peace & Kindness, Charles

Merry Christmas and good evening!

I don't believe the clock on the VS actually logs your operating time. The battery it has is used to back up certain parameters, but to my knowledge it doesn't store usage time. I have two VS-2480's myself, and a bunch of associated support gear and other Roland products.

As to the manufacture date, I recall there was a post regarding that, but it's been a few years since I read it. Maybe you could use the VS Planet search function to locate it?

Another method might be to contact Roland directly and give them your machine's S/N, and they may be willing to check it for you. They have it on record somewhere, I'm sure. But lately, Roland seems to want to forget about the fact they were the manufacturer, and they'd rather sell you something new than discuss what they consider an obsolete piece of gear. Which is unfortunate, in my opinion.

Good luck, and if you find out some new information, please post it and share with the other Planeteers.

blair, Good one!

ulank,

Did that excite you?

Totally. The inputs are a little sticky now but it was worth it.

There was a few years ago a Roland s/n checker online you could find out every item's date year and month, but it was taken down. My vs-2480 was manufactured DEC 2005 DVD version.

Usually underneath the VS2480 there is a date stamp. All of the VS units I have owned (Two 2480s and two VS2000s) have the "born on" date somewhere on the outer region.

I know it's obvious but suggesting in case you have never flipped the unit over.

Peace
Ian

Ian,

I looked underneath mine today, but I see nothing like you described, just a serial number label (there is another one on the side).

Is it a label, or a stamp, and is it easily visible?

I found this info in a search:

UPDATE:

Here's the link to the Serial Number decoder for Boss pedals. I understand the serial numbers of Roland gear can be decoded on this, and it seems to work.

Maybe others can try it with their equipment?
