For my wife. I've been pretty quiet about this - but we've been dealing with this since last September. My wife was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer last September. In December she underwent two surgeries at Stanford. Starting January 1, she has undergone 15 very aggressive chemo treatments. This Tuesday is number 16 for her and her last.
Next Sunday we head over to our place in Pismo for 11 days - when we get back - she starts 30 days of radiation.
Her doctors and very optimistic - they told us last week that she has a better chance of dying from old age than she does from cancer.
We're both worn out - but it's almost over and it looks like things will be getting back to normal fairly soon.

I’m really glad to hear this, Mark. I’ve been very quiet about this, actually silent, but Denise found a lump last week, had an ultrasound, then a biopsy. Stage two but she’s got the bad gene and a family history so this Friday she’s having a double mastectomy. I’m right back into fighting mode like 9 years ago, blasting through bureaucracy and medical terms. i’m trying to be my best self. I am of course terrified and sad but also optimistic.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts.
Doug - I'm sorry man. Kim doesn't have the hereditary form of breast cancer.
One thing you can take comfort in is that they have really made great strides in the past few years in fighting breast cancer. I wish you and Denise the best and will keep the two of you in my prayers.
It's going to be ok.
Thanks again everyone.

And Jazzooo, sorry to hear that about your Denise. The positive is that it was caught early and these days the outcome for breast cancer treatment has gotten really good. May everybody get healed and get well and go on to live long happy vigorous lives.
And really, what do the Intelligent Design folks have to say about cancer and disease? Flaw in the design, what?

Just a quick update-yesterday at 11 o’clock my wife had a mastectomy. They removed one lymph node and did a biopsy and it was 100% clean. The surgery went perfectly, according to all those involved. The lobby was filled with her family, and when we finally got to see her About seven hours later, she was amazing. Radiant, clearheaded, grateful and only in some slight discomfort. Thanks for your healing beams, thoughts and prayers.
