It seems like A LOT of companies are coming out with the same old effects and gussying them up with pretty names, pictures, and controls with funny names. Sounds like a reverb or delay, and one setting has that line 6 synth sounds in the background.

I have so many effects processors dating back 30 or so years..thought about hooking them all up and run them through my 3 loopers...hitting a chord, and sit back and listen and tweak them every once and awhile🤪

That's the kind of thing I would enjoy, in real time at least. Maybe just one note. Oscillate away!

That's a great sounding reverb indeed!

I thought I was over effects buying, but I was wrong, there are so many great effects out there these days to feed the creative mind!

Here's a few others to feed your gas \:D :

I like what EHX has been doing these days. Boutique sounds without boutique prices (mostly).

And some other pedals I really like to feed your gas:

Modulation:

Filter effect:

Vocal Formant:

A better wah (I think so)?

A great sounding compressor pedal - FET and Optical:

Anyway....

Here's the deal… you can spend a shitload of money on all of these guys and have a huge pedal board, or you can just buy a Helix. You can get every single sound you're hearing here, plus a LOT more.

Or if you love the sound of your amp, just get one of the Helix stomps for about $500.

They're constantly updating the software, too.

Yes, the Axe-Fx is a good idea, too. The only thing against it (for me) is that it's not available in a standalone floor unit.

Every Line 6 product I've owned has sounded good, but been a total piece of crap quality-wise. And I never took any of them out of the studio. I don't think I'm into dropping $1500 on a Helix.

Moose, did you actually listen to any of those effects? Just wondering, not agree or disagree with your stance.

In any case, I have had a TON of processing at my disposal for a very long time, updating/grading as I've gone. Most of the effects I've linked to have some unique sounds to them ... not included put together. With that said, I've never had a chance to dig into the Helix, and I'm sure it's much more good.

Peace!

MG: Yep, I listened to all of 'em. The exact method of creating each of the sounds may be a bit different, but you really can get all of this out of a Helix.

MOS: I get what you mean, I used to have a PodHD, and returned it before it was past the "return or keep it" date. I wasn't impressed with the build quality. They really have upped the ante with Helix, and with the Variax (which I also own).

And, just for the record, the only Helix that'll cost you $1500 is the "full" one. You can get the Helix LT, which I have, for about $1000, and the smaller stomp boxes for about half that.

Now don't get me wrong… I get that some people like to have a lot of boxes on a board. They look pretty for sure. But adding in all of the extra cabling (potential for problems) and not having the capability of full programming of presets offsets that for me. Plus, you drop, what, a minimum of $200 on each of these pedals?

Electro harmonix has really made some cool products. I loved all those videos however.

Yeah, the EHX "synth" type processors are really cool.

Moose: do you have the james tyler variax, or the original version? The 700 series guitars they made in the mid-2000s were decent quality, but the modeling wasn't all that great. Some were definitely usable in the context of a full band mix. I wonder if the new JT guitars have upgraded modeling, or if they use the same ones as before.

Re: EHX synth, I have the C9 pedal. It tracks really well compared to some others I've used, but it doesn't have enough output to use for direct recording. Or maybe I'm just doing it dumb. In any case, it's a very cool pedal.

mob, are you going into a high impedance input?

I'm not sure. I tried using it like a direct box straight into a 2480. I did use the guitar input on channel 16, though. I think that is high impedance?!?

MOS: I have the JTV-59, which has a different type of modeling than the original.

Do any guitar effects --- come rack & have a digital I/O ?? Guess all of those are gone ,,,

Most guitarist bring their own --- Or be subject to the Roland plugs or the TC racks
