I have applied to a couple of companies now. I got accepted at one. They pay alright 26 bucks an hour but they advertise the costs as 35 for a half hour ..to students..hmm. so ya im doing the work they get the pay they get the students...for me to teach...I might start with them and see how much work I get...but I wonder how many people are paying 70 dollars for a hour of lessons thats crazy...I was charging 20 bucks for lessons back a few years ago...maybe ill just advertise myself and see what happens...this of course happens as I am getting work as a contractor renovator now...crazy ...I was enjoying my not busy holidays kinda worrying about cash flow but I knew I had some work Reno coming... but I wonder if I should just put my shingle out again??

sure..the math is easy..... how many hours will you get at $26 for "them" vs $30 on your own...

Why would you give an hour guitar lesson?

I'd be curious how you're integrating technology in learning for your students. There is so much wonderful learning tech that wasn't there when I was learning....

I didn't mean as an alternative, but as a tool.

Funny you should bring this up, grach. As I transition into retirement, I'm thinking of giving guitar lessons too. Still considering what I want to charge.

I mean, the way I play, I could either charge $100 per half hour or $2, depending on your point of view \:D

Theres a loy to be said for $26 an hour where the harvesting of students, scheduling, and location are all provided. Sure, 30 is more than 26, the question is how much overhead/hassle is $4 worth?

Charge more than anyone else. Attract top serious students and be the best guitar teacher around. Why even bother fucking around and doing and being anything less?

Make a Youtube channel. Upload a 5 minute lesson every week. Will provide a service, supplemental teaching, and give you cred with your market.

as I stand today im feeling cool about things. I will see how the lessons go how many I get and how my organizing and teaching go. Really strange are these companies to me. They have all the flash of advertising and net presence but they interviewed me but never asked me to play guitar for them.WHA? and also they have no real lesson plan they just say you have your way thats cool...so its very weird to me. I know its young dudes who do this. The office places I went to for job interviews had a slight ly more planned lesson for you to follow but not much. And they have rent to pay..but its more about volume there get as many kids in as possible while mom is off to the gym.

It will be interesting to see how things go.stay tuned
and moose id pay for you to teach me how to play lead guitar easily 2 bucks Canadian.
