You mean, a whole section of a song? Say, sixteen tracks that all comprise one word that is missing?
Or a phrase from just the vocal track where a word is missing?

A phrase from just a vocal track > a word

Not an answer, but something to consider. As with all models of the VS (I believe) the 2480 has a minimum phrase limitation of 1/2 second (500ms).

To get a one word phrase, you will want to copy a phrase longer than the single word (probably) onto a free track (ideally) and then cut/paste it to the track it needs to be merged into by placing it in to the space needed and then overlapping the part that immediately follows that one word through a track cut or track move process. Or something to that affect - sorry, it's been ages since I've edited in such tiny detail on my own 1680, which I used to be very good at finding creative ways around its limitations.

Here's how I would do it. Copy just that word from the track it's on to another empty track, then import the track from that song to the new song, then move the word to exactly where you need it. Oh, I guess I should have asked if this is on the VS or somewheres in between or whatnot. Hope I understood you right and I'm not missin' somethin'. Later.

You could also go into mastering and record the "word." Download to CD then import back into the 2480.

By far easier ;\) -- but >> all the tracks are in the VS --

Actually the TRACK IMPORT was really quick. .

As I said :: one of those apps that you need to do ~~ more than once every 4/5 years...completely forget the steps ..

Can the word just be re-recorded at the precise location needed?

No -- thanks a bunch == rib me all you want

We do very little editing with the VS -- never even view a WAV... Its' just a glorified 48 ch tape deck .. running the ROLAND like a 80's analog deck/recorder ..

If our clients required excessive editing -- wouldn't be on the 2480
