Has anyone had success using a wireless mouse and keyboard with the VS 2000CD? I purchased a PS/2 to USB adapter and have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo that uses a single transmitter that plugs into the USB port on the adapter but....nothing. I would love to eliminate the cable running from the mouse to the VS. The wired mouse I have is very old (do they even still make them any more?) and it tracks terribly. Often I just give up and resort to the cursor buttons on the VS. Would sure like to improve the performance of my mouse, even if I need to use a wired one and can live without a keyboard, but it would be much nicer to have both. I hope someone can help.

Seems to me that you combo transmitter can't work with the VS at all, since the VS is not a general purpose computer that you could load the necessary software configuration utility into.

You might see if you could use a kvm connector - one that has ps/2 to the computer and usb on the mouse and keyboard side. You'd still have to connect the mouse and keyboard separately - that is, if you have a usb wireless receiver for both mouse and keyboard individually. Actually, I don't think that will work either, if your VS has separate inputs for the mouse and keyboard cables.

I'm fairly certain the kvm will not work with the dual/combo system either for the same reason that the VS won't... there's nowhere to install the software utility to set up the mouse and keyboard.

I don't know. I have never had any trouble just hooking up a wireless keyboard and mouse to a computer simply by plugging the transmitter into a USB port. No separate software/driver installation was necessary. But I realize that the PS/2 input on the VS is not the same as a USB port. And yes there is only a single PS/2 input on the VS, not separate ones for keyboard and mouse. Just would have liked to have one or two fewer wires cluttering things up.

You might look into the Logitech Trackman Marble. It's a USB device, but has an adapter to PS/2. I use one on the 2000 and two 2480s. You would still, have the wire, but the device is stationary which can be a real boon when surface real estate is in short supply. Another point in its favor is no need for batteries!

If you use a Y adapter to connect mouse and keyboard, be aware that the plugs may be reversed; use the mouse plug for kb and vice-versa. Maybe its just my adapters, but all three are that way. It ws a bit consternating at first.

I also have the trackman marble... and it’s worked great for over a decade.

Another suggestion for the original poster, regarding the poor functioning of the wired mouse, would be to check the manual and run some trials with different adjustments to the mouse set up parameters. Good luck!

probably been a few years since I came here to VS Planet..though I miss it..still working 60 hour nights...I tried using a wireless mouse setup but couldn't get it so I'm still using the wired mouse and my VS2k..Still love it. Had to replace the battery a few times now but..
