Hi!
Do anyone happen to know if any kind of CD-R burning emulator exist? I'm thinking some piece of hardware to plug into the SCSI-port that behaves like a CD burner, but instead stores my tracks on a SD card or something.

I want to use Track Export and I want my files to end up on an SD card instead of a CD-R.

I have some troubles burning CDs. Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails. Since it takes so long to burn a few MB, every single time it fails is very annoying.

Buy some high quality CD-r discs or Taiyo-Yuden blank cd-rs.

15 years ago I made a project backup onto two different CD-R's. I tried to load them recently...
The "Memorex" brand failed.
The Taiyo-Yuden worked fine.

I can't find any stand alone devices to emulate an optical drive. There are software packages that will create image files from a burn command, but they all run on a computer.

That Memorex disc might be easy to rip into VSWE with bear's cd ripper on a pc, if you have those tools to use. You'll only get the dry tracks as wav files, but that would be better than nothing, I'm thinking.

Johnny - not sure if you're aware of VirDIS but that is what we do, along with emulating a Hard Drive. Since our emulations use simple Windows files, you can store them anywhere you like - like an SD for example :). BTW, we do Track Export for the 2480 too!

Yes, I've heard about the VirDis. The problem was that Windows was needed. I heard that there were plans for a stand-alone version and I sent emails asking about it and I got some answers and promises that I would get to know when that one was available, but then nothing happened.

I've been waiting on the standalone VirDis as well. I've asked whether VirDis would run on Windows under VirtualBox or some other virtual machine, but get no answer. If that would work, I'd go for it in a heartbeat.

The ability to export tracks to HDD or SD/CF would be invaluable.
