If its not too much trouble could someone who has vfire working in windows 10 64bit please explain what universal driver version you are currently using and the procedure for installation. I have installed/uninstalled various times and have yet to get it working correctly. Do you use the old vfire driver also and when to connect the firewire cable. I read over the info several times about the windows one. Does that mean let windows install the hardware itself or are you referring to the universal driver. Previously I got reaper to see the firestudio/vfire put when I hit record it pulses into overload. I have used the firewire card with presonus studiolive 16.0.2 in this computer so I don't think thats the problem. When I first installed the universal driver ( 3.03...) I had a solid blue light a few seconds after pluging the cable but no transfer of audio and after trying various things I kept screwing up more and more. I am not very computer savy so if someone could please help a hopeless dinosaur out...thanks

It's been a while so I tried to do a quick test.

I have Universal Control 4.2.1.46437 installed and I can play from the VS to my Windows 10 64 bit PC in Reaper.

The driver file I installed is called PreSonus_Universal_Control_Installer-5884 - For Windows 10.exe

I believe it's this one...

Thanks for the info Steve, I will see if i can get it up and running. I think i had the 1.76 Universal control installed and it wouldn't start before but I added it later after i already had 3.30 installed. Are they supposed to run simultaneously or I just use the 1.76 before connecting the vfire the first time?

if you've got a mixer, you might want to pickup a vsr-880. its a rackmount recorder, 24 bit, built for using a mixer via Rbus among other inputs.

should be some vids of it on youtube
it has the ability to mount one vs8f-2 card in it for effects.
all the kids are replacing the internal hard drive with compact flash or sd cards.....

Steve, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!! I have finally successfully transferred a song to the computer from the vs 2480. I bought this V-fire years ago and couldn't get it to work on any computer or operating system. I am using windows 10 64 bit with a generic via chip pci express card. I'm still foggy on the reaper settings but i saved the project as a template. I had to use rbus1 as clock and do direct in ez routing before tracks would show up.
Now maybe I can interface with people using reaper ,ableton, etc.

Did this work with Logic? It would be great if I could use one of these with my XV5080!

First of all I'd like to thank BearM for sharing his findings.

Just would like to confirm that the V-Fire works in Windows 10 using PreSonus_Universal_Control_Installer-5884 and the Microsoft Legacy Firewire driver.

Has been tested with:

VM-3100 Pro
VM-7000
VSR-880
XV-5080

Thanks everybody!
