D35s from that era that have been played regularly are beautifully rich with texture, clarity, balance, volume and sustain. I kick myself for not taking advantage of the opportunity presented to me in '76. I could've had me a mid '60s D35 for a grand.

1958 D-21 owner here - the rosewood is so tight grained it's almost black - i bought it in 1979 for $600 - great bluegrass guitar.

I have a 74 D-35. It had many of the issues common to the mid-70s Martins. I think mine lost some mojo when I had the bridge reset, to be honest.

Yeah - it's a great finger picker. The 35 is loud and boomy - a true banjo buster. My 28 is not a loud Martin but it's a good strummer and for single note leads.
For fingerpicking I have a Collings C10 - 00 size with mahogany back and sides.
